Speaking of Japan, I'm watching Round 3 live on Japanese TV on YouTube. I get a bit of it - just watched Charie Hurrie putting. But speaking seriously, all the Japanese I know speak much better English than I could ever manage in Japanese. I did try once in a language lab.....

No idea how to rate the commentators. They sound very smooth and chatty.

Charie Hurrie? Is this the player French Golf Channel refer to as Sharlee Hool?

Wind chill will be in the mid-30s when play resumes.  Going to still be wet although not raining.  Miserable playing conditions.  As things dry a little bit the mud balls are going to get bad like on Saturday.  Guessing there won't be more than 2 or 3 under par rounds if that many.

When I went out for my run this morning (I live on the Richmond border w/Katy) my first thought was today was going to be a bloodbath for some of these players if there's any wind left when they go.  Even without it it's gonna be very difficult.  Mud balls aside chipping from wet, soggy closely cut bermuda surrounds is the stuff of nightmares.  I wouldn't even bother myself, just use putter or putt w/a hybrid.  Today is a survival test, plain and simple.  I'll be watching for sure.

I wonder if Judy’s contract doesn’t allow her to work on NBC even though GC and NBC have the same parent? Could be like Faldo who’s on GC and CBS but never NBC. If I remember correctly, she’s also worked The Open on ESPN/ABC which could preclude her from being on NBC. Otherwise, it just doesn’t make sense.

I rank Judy as the best golf analyst, ahead of Johnny Miller, Nick Faldo and the rest of the also runs.  Paige is the worst..

I'm sure NBC can pick a better analyst even if Judy is not available.  I'd give them a pass this year because USGA was a pleasant surprise for them but would be very disappointed if Paige is still at their booth next year.

well I can confirm it is cold out here, 5*C, wind has dropped compared to last night though. guessing just 8mph or so. Felt like being home in Scotland last night with the wind hitting the house.

I dont watch a ton of women's golf, I must say I've never seen anyone have to put a 6 in their name before.

I thought that was her email address

The story is she showed up at a junior tournament, and there were already 5 players registered with the same name as her.  So to stand out, since she was #6, she added 6 to her name.

I had a similar reaction when I first saw it.

I’ve been reserving judgment on the play in general until today.  I’m a huge LPGA fan. These women can’t putt. They can’t read chips or putts. They can’t hit greens. I don’t think it’s the conditions causing this. They look bad. Love to see some male pros play this course tomorrow and prove me wrong.

I’m glad to see them playing it down too.  The USga is pretty uniform on this topic.  Down is the way.  So this absolutely fits in .

thing is it WILL identify the strongest mind coupled with the most ball control.   People that believe in luck are the ones  who won’t get any.

The USGA doesn't really care if they identify the best player or the one that executes the best.  They just want the course to play hard.  Mud balls just randomize the results.

From what I have been told, Champions has a lot of the very good Houston golfers(male) a lot of + golfers there.

I played with a member randomly at Memorial and he was a 2 and was so far down their club championship pecking order he said. I would join Champions if I was here long term, seems an awesome golfers club!

If you don't think conditions are having a significant affect on play, then you are just wrong.

The question is did he really just find out about this on Sat? I mean she is the reigning USWO chsmpion!

The putting has been really poor today - they're really struggling with the speed. I bet the green speeds don't match how it FEELS they should be running. When it's really cold and damp you naturally feel like you need to give your putt a little extra. But the greens are running lightning fast, so that's a recipe for disaster.

Then you run one putt 10 feet past the hole, then you leave the next one 5 feet short, then... well, you're done unless you can adjust on the fly.

I think Paige is becoming a pretty good color analyst, but the giggles need to stop. Hopefully they diminish over time.

Are you kidding? Please take the microphone away from Paige. She butchers the English language. If she says “kinda” and “really” one more time, I may just mute the broadcast. Perhaps a lesson in adverbs and adjectives is in order, as well.

With so many qualified broadcasters, why is she part of the broadcast team?
