So watching coverage for a couple of hours.  Did Judy Rankin not want to work this week?  I want to give Paige MacKenzie some rope, but she is no Judy Rankin.

TSN is "providing" us with the commercial inserts that the Americans are avoiding.  Just like Formula 1 races, they have a knack for just dropping them in at inopportune times.

As to the comment re: lots of pages before the start of the event, well, this is what betting can do for you.  The NFL's "dominance" isn't because people like to see how different teams defend the post pattern.

I am surprised(although maybe I just missed it), that there isn't a ticker running through showing players' scores.  I get half the field is on the other course and it's not as easy to jump over, but scores would help.  This isn't Sunday.

ha ha they just said we know there are big names on the board and we'll try to get are peeps over to them.  They must be reading Canadian twitter lol.   One of big name golf reporters had to tell everyone to calm down cause there aren't many camera's JR.  Canada take it personally if they don't see Brooke on the broadcast lol

LOL... can't satisfy everyone...  yuka showing her mettle! team philippines 1.5 seem to be doing well so far...

My Philosophy, wanna be on TV than be -4 and not even lol.  Oh and you just jinxed Yuka, but she playing great beside that worse possible outcome on a loose shot.

As an aside -- this is why it's always better to keep quiet - see the comment of you know who below (i know it's prolly said in jest, but still...) -- ill shut up now on this board (anti- jinx to yuka, hinako, bianca, etc lol)... back when the tournament is over... 🙂  - haha

“I’m just gonna have to hit a good one on the first three holes just to let them know who the boss is and then just try to hit fairways the rest of the round.”

Yes, even said in jest, it shouldn't have been said at all.  As some will remind her, drive for show all you like, but a serious player needs to putt for dough!  OR in this case, a chance to even make the cut for the weekend.  I just hope with such bad play that it didn't affect B too much ... it's so darn hard when people you play with in your group are playing so poorly. The unspoken negativity can just spread to the other players.

FWIW, Allisen Corpuz and Yuka Saso are both half Filipinos by ethnicity (of course they represent the US and Philippines respectively)...  Corpuz' mother is Korean while Saso's father is Japanese... dunno if the USGA paired them together that way... if they paired the bombers together, well... go figure...

Judy did the early coverage on Peacock.

I’m done giving rope to Paige. She’s had plenty of time to get better and it hasn’t happened.

Nobody knows the game like Judy Rankin; every sentence she utters is a pearl of wisdom.

Paige is useless, she delivered not single a pearl of wisdom in 5 hours.

I've to give today's NBC broadcast a grade F; neither Dan Hicks nor Paige added anything to the game.

Well, if not for Yuka being shown a bit, I'd agree with an "F". but since they showed quite a bit of Yuka, I give today's coverage a D...

Watching on dvr now. I know lee6 is defending but do you really need to show every single shot from her? She’s not in contention really and is not exciting.

zero shots from the bomber group?? Seriously they really need to learn what is exciting to watch

Clearly, the broadcast was produced by the production group of NBC Sports, not Golf Channel.

The producers of NBC Sports know nothing about LPGA and its players.

Well I'd say both course are challenging but not overly difficult, if your mistake is bad enough you'll get punished.  It would have been nice if the rough was nice and lush but nothing the USGA can do about that.  Player on Jackrabbit really missed an opportunity if they didn't get under par today.  Gotta wait and see how things play out after 2 rounds and will weather become a factor tomorrow and shake up the leaderboard.  I think Paige is right though, wind would hurt you more on JR than CC.  I think you'd rather have wind blowing your ball offline on the greens and having it harder to make birdies rather than the wind blowing and have you miss green with steep run off's on JR.

Sei Young Kim is still on the driver seat to win this tournament; the +1 score is transitory.

Sei Young made 6 birdies today, more than any other player in the field.

Yes, the "explosive" players still have a strong chance... I firmly believe that - +1 and better, you're not out of it after 1 round in my view, even +2 to +3 is still ok if you ask me.. and we know "explosive" can go -5 next day LOL -- like those players that yo-yo so much...  (though I'd say Fassi is clearly out)

To our resident KLPGA follower @18majors, who is A Lim Kim (over and beyond usual internet search and USWO bio page)... she under the radar in KLPGA too?

A Lim Kim leads KLPGA in driving distance; she's the Bianca Pagdanganan of KLPGA.

She's a good round today because she'd eleven one putt today.  She isn't known to be a great putter.

I thought it was a fair setup today. The lag putting really got a workout. Definitely seemed like a lot of players were playing defense, especially on the greens. No sense throwing it away in the opening round. There were some nice scores out there, but wow, the bottom of the leaderboard really had a rough so of it. Are we going to see another record high cut line? Given that only 60 and ties move on, probably not.

I really hope that the weather stays reasonable tomorrow. Hate to see the players on the JR course have a big advantage going into the weekend.

BTW, why no uproar about Lexi going through 5 caddies this (shortened) season? Lydia dumps a caddie and it makes the front cover of Time magazine. Lol. Seriously, caddies on the LPGA are a revolving door. Many of the top players have had several over the past few years. It happens.

Except that Lexi never had a permanent replacement after she parted with Kevin.  This week's caddie, Tim Tucker, joined her on the bag as a result of discussions with her agent.   She shares an agent with Bryson so I understand that is how this came about for this week.  She plans on having her brother Curtis on the bag at CME.

Unless winds gust to 25-30 mph, the cutline should be +3 or +4; which is tame compared to +9 at AIG and +8 at VOA.

Do you think Jackrabbit is much easier than Cypress?  It had more under par rounds, 15 to 8; but the same +8 or higher rounds, 6 to 6.

Maybe Jackrabbit is a tad easier, we'll find out tomorrow.

they (Eg gc commentators) did indicate Jack Rabbit is one stroke easier today vs CC, but again weather may play havoc tomorrow...

Lydia made it very clear early on that she was going to use a variety of caddies in her rookie season until she settled on one. She used 7 in her first year. After she dropped her long term caddie Jason Hamilton, the media made it sound like she was firing them left and right.

Looks like the broadcast was struggling to get the scores right. Hee Young sank the final round of the day, and they showed her at +4. The USGA site shows her at +6.
