That’s an eye opener... never had looked at that style of putting before

Only name player I know of was Snead, a way past his best.

I’ll file that one under ‘unproven’

Didn’t DeChambeau tried it for a while but submitted a non-confirming putter in the eyes of the USGA?... and that was that

Boring consistent golf is way more important than flashy. I've played with a number of elite ams and tour players and the trait I've noticed the most is a lot of times they aren't crazy flashy or as "impressive" as you'd expect but just don't make big mistakes. You finish the round thinking they shot 74 and somehow they post 68. This is what adds up over a 4 day tournament. No wild misses off the tee, greens in regulation, exceptional speed control with the putter, and missing to the wide side of the green.

Shampoo has gotten a ton of attention for the flashy play, but the Master's showed what happens when you are off. You tie a guy who is over double your age you're outdriving by 100 yards.

in to out path

The in to out path can be one of the most destructive swing thoughts/feels to the better golf swinger (not necessarily the better scorer if you get what I mean).

The better player with a solid swing and/or strong stick and ball background can swing in to out with ease and can over do it pretty easily leading to flips, massive hooks and the overcorrecting block.

The better player with good sequencing will naturally swing on a in to out to in path because of where they’re standing in relation to the ball. Thinking about swinging in to out can ultimately just make a good swing terrible.

Actually 99% from 3 feet.  In 2019 worst on tour from 3 feet was Charley Hoffman at 98.35%.   Median was 99.5%.  13 players were 100% with between 357 to 834 attempts.

That stat is for putts 3-feet or LESS, actually, So it includes all of their tap-ins, etc.

this is directly from the stat on pgatour.com:

"For all holes where putting distance was determined with a laser, the percent of putts made when the ball is 3 feet or less from the hole. In order to be ranked, a minimum of ten attempts must be made. (341)"

Or go with putts between 3-4 feet where median was 92.17%

It's not likely any of us will ever hit the ball like a TOUR pro. The average TOUR pro gets up and down from off the green about 50% of the time. The average single digit handicap gets up and down from off the green less than 20% of the time. You can lower your handicap faster than anything else by getting your short game as close to TOUR level as possible, and we have a much better chance of getting that good than we do of ever becoming a TOUR level ball striker.

You said you read decade, but I’m still going to preach from it... dispersion is the only thing that matters and no one seems to focus on it... take the time to get on a launch monitor and figure out your dispersion. With everything.

then pick your targets based on that dispersion.

Im coming to believe that all decisions (equipment, on course targeting, even what we should practice) should be based on dispersion patterns and nothing else... if something doesn’t improve your dispersion, it’s pointless.

My dad always told me if your playing a guy and his clubs are over ten years old and he's carrying your probably in for a tough match.

Wisdom, especially if the bag is 20 years old with battle scars held together by duct tape and thread, and is holding a short set, yes you may be in for a rough afternoon.
