If you don't mind me asking, where was this at?

The Country Club at Championsgate, still no contact from the rep. I guess he just figures we don't care. It pisses me off since I wanted to hit the APEX 21's off grass to dial in the shaft, I ended up hitting the Nippon 950 gh neo at Edwin Watts yesterday off the Mizuno cart with the Hot metal pro which I guess is in the same ballpark as the APEX 21.

I have been testing irons for a couple of weeks and finally ordered today. It came down to the Apex Pro vs P770. The pro looks better and has a slightly narrower sole which works well with my shallow AoA.

Beyond that, the 770 sounded slightly better, but the Apex pro was easier to hit, ball speed was more consistent, spin was ~550rpm higher, look was better, land angle slightly better at 48.4 with the Apex vs 47 with the 770.

I tried several shafts then the fitter popped in the X7 and boom, feel was better, draw was tighter, spin came back up, it was perfect.

Final configuration:

Apex pro 3i 1* strong with MMT 105 TX

Apex Pro 4 & 5i standard loft w/ DG X7

Apex Pro 6-9i 1* weak w/ DG X7

7i Numbers (Trackman):

Ball Speed 135

Launch Angle 16.5

Spin 5890

Land Angle 48

Carry 194

All in all ecstatic with these irons, and huge props to Callaway for no up charge on the X7.

That is a sweet set up on the 3i.  I'm thinking real hard about moving away from my 24* UT and going into the apex pro 4i with a similar set up and bending 1* weak.  Should match up well with my '19 double dots.

But.....have you considered the impact of the tech in the respective heads?  Perhaps the faces are thinner and more hot than in the shorter irons?  Hard to say without doing a gap analysis on a LM.  You should perhaps do that before making assumptions and bending.  Just a thought.

The hollow heads continue through the 7i. You move from 3* to 4* at some point either way, I just prefer it start at 5&6 vs 6&7. Also based on my numbers I want a little more spin and can afford to drop a few yards on the short irons.

I am excited about it, I have been playing a U500 3i with an ad di but didn't care for the wide sole.

I have a u500 2i which I love.  Probably will keep it as I only play it from the tee.  Just really interested in the 4i spot.

At least you don't have the U510 - that sole is wider than a game improvement iron.  I have gamed the U500 2i like @wam78 primarily off the tee but just picked up a U500 3i for some better gapping between my yet-to-arrive Apex Pro 4i and my 3/5 wood.

@toddmanley I’m curious to hear your feedback on the apex pro 4i once you can get it out in the wild.  Pretty close to asking my builder to build one for me.  Will prob put a UT graphite shaft in it, but not sure which one yet.

Thinking hard about putting a modus ghost in.  Currently playing modus 125 in irons.  Theoretically speaking, the profile should match up to what I like to feel when loading it.

I tried the u510, did not agree with my swing. I had a cobra king ut that I really liked, bought the new model of that and didn’t care for it either. This year I got the Apex pro 3i and a G425 3h and will swap between them depending on course and conditions.

I'm thinking a little different from the norm here...

Mavrik Pro 5-7i into Apex Pro combo 8-Pw.

Coming from Rogue Pro and currently playing a mav pro 4i. The top line on Mavrik Pro is (marginally) thinner than the Apex with a touch less offset which I think actually combos better looks wise (aside from the finishes)

Thanks to the slightly stronger Apex Pro lofts and the fact Mavrik Pro are identical to Apex the gapping should be fine through the set. 44⁰ Pw may become 45⁰ to help with wedge gapping.

Might be able to save a few $ as well.

Looks like 4-W?  What shaft did you end up ordering?  How is forgiveness in the 4, was able to hit the stock club and it was great.

I have the exact setup on order, but with the Pro AW as I like to keep it consistent with the main set.

Not sure on the 4 iron yet. Haven’t hit it. Played a sim round yesterday and these things feel amazing. Better than the 19 apex pros. Not as high pitched.

I ordered these with the x100. 4-W. I thought about the apex MB’s aw. I still may. But I’d have to really change up my other wedges to gap it all out.

Will be great to hear more once you get a chance to hit on the course.  I was fit by a Callaway Master Fitter and we were taking the plastic off the Pros at that time.  Coming from a set of P790s and was debating about ordering a UT 23 (my son has been playing the XFCB and experimenting with a 18 and 21 UT).  Hit 5 or 6 with the 4 iron (Stock elevate shaft) and had no concerns on forgiveness off that small sample size.  I am was a X100 player for the longest time but giving the KBS Tour V a try initially, early March delivery date.

Will be a few months till that happens unfortunately.  It's been a tame winter by Minnesota standards.  So, hopefully the snow will melt fast and we'll get a little bit of an early start on the season.

Not a bad idea but unless you are going with stock setup in mavrik pros, as of Friday of last week I received an email that we are no longer taking custom orders on Mavrik pros.

Anybody tried the elevate ets shaft, if so is the dispersion much tighter than the previous version?

also anybody tried the project x io? What’s the spin and launch compared to the rifle project x’s?

ready to order but can’t demo in the UK for another 5 weeks. Torn between these 2 shafts but looking for any feedback

So strange.  I just got my 8 and 9 Pros today and mine don't have the word TUNGSTEN on them like yours does.   I wouldn't expect it to be there either since there is no tungsten in the short irons.   Wonder why yours has TUNGSTEN on it?

I think it was just an error at the factory. They’re not supposed to say tungsten like you said. I can go through the process of getting them replaced. But, it’s really a non issue for me. I’m happy with them as is.

Looks like several guys have been able to getting fittings done.  I would be interested in your perspective on a couple things.

Elevate ETS vs Project X IO?

Any thoughts on the Recoil Dart and/or the MCC MMT shaft in the Apex 21 or Apex Pro?

Also, did you hit the Apex 21 and the Apex Pro?  Seems like the Pro is visual winner but I would be interested to see what the thought is on playability and forgiveness of mishits between the two.

I went in for a fitting for the Apex and thought I would for sure be in the Apex Pro.   But numbers didn't work out for me.   I had a tighter dispersion with the Apex than the Apex Pro's.   The miss hits for me with the Apex Pro's didn't compare favorably to the Apex.  So I went with the Apex.

As far as shafts, The ETS were fine, nothing to complain about, but according to the fitter and the fitting numbers  the IO's were better for me.   I'm not savvy enough to know exactly why, except to say the results were better with the IO's.   More consistent distance and a tighter dispersion pattern.   Also, don't know exactly why, but the IO's felt softer to me with less vibration especially on miss hits.   But I had thought the ETS were designed for that.   But didn't feel that way to me.

TJ7644, thanks for sharing your comments and experience.

brettmag, were those MMT shafts available to test as a part of a fitting or did you order them based on something else?  Did you compare them to the stock Recoil Dart shaft or any other graphite shafts?

I'm approaching my mid fifties and haven't bought a new set of irons in a long time.  Trying to do some homework and see what others are learning between Apex/Apex Pro and steel/graphite so I'm not disappointed with my choices in a couple of years.  I've got at least another month or more before the weather is going to allow for knocking some rust off and a fitting.

Thanks to everyone posting their experiences here.  What a great community and resource.
