Seniors @ 200-210 Yards WITB

Sorry I am leaving out the 99.5% of playas here, but this one is just for the senior crowd that doesn't kill the ball. I am using the G400 Max driver, F9 fairway woods, RBZ 5-6 hybrids, G700 5-8 iron, F9 8-aw, MD5 54* wedge, and Toulon Columbus putter. I am back and forth on the G700 or F9, 8 iron. All are graphite shafts except the putter. I am planning on going all Ping in the future, but for now this bag works for me. Hardest clubs are the fairways and hybrids as I always struggle with them. Before playing the G700, the long irons were the toughest, no more.

Driver: Ping G410 12 degree

7 wood: Ping G410

6 hybrid: Tour Edge Exotics

7-AW: Taylormade P770 (pending)

Putter: Toulon Atlanta

I was fitted for an Epic Flash driver last year and hated it. I spent less than half on a Ping410 off the rack and hit it better. I love the idea of the Cleveland Smart Sole Chipper more than my execution with it at this point.

I play at a 66........years of age that is. As that is a handicap. 😉 See signature for clubs. I recently bought a 46" Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue shaft for my driver so it plays at 46.5 inches. The additional length has helped me pick up some yardage.

I am 67 years old and play graphite in all of my clubs except the putter and Vokey wedges. I have been fitted for everything except the putter.

I would like to put a 60 degree back in the bag but will have to take something out which I can not decide what to remove.

Age 68. Index: 10? Don't have one these days.  82 +/- 2 is typical.  Play courses 6000-6200 yards.  Every now and then I sneak into the high 70's.

That 4 iron below is about to take a vacation.  I love hitting it, but it's been cranky lately.  I have the matching 4 hybrid to the 3h but don't like a longer graphite shaft in a green-seeking club.  I am going to buy a steel shafted hybrid one of these days. Anyone have steel shafts in their hybrids?

PS: the P790 is a great set of irons.

I turned 70 recently. See WITB in sig line.

The ESX driver replaced a Calla XR 16 Pro; O'size 4H replaced Cobra FlyZ that was good, until it wasn't.

The Rogues resolve a feud between Tour Edge XRails (easy to hit but yardage low) and Calla Alpha 815s (15 yards longer but more mishits).

I have arthritic right hip that can tighten up on takeaway, especially if I play two days in row. Drives carry ~ 220 if I get good rotation.

I need to try some graphite shafts for irons. Current KBS Tour 90 about 95 grams; tried some 80 gr. Catalyst graphite in Mav Max irons, and picked up 8 MPH clubhead speed over current irons.

I also need to get a retro-fitting on my EXS driver to make sure I have the best tunings.

The club testing should come after a couple of months in the gym to shore up core strength and flexibility. Governor's gym closings, followed by my first gym's bankruptcy, kinda messed up my routines. Joined quality new gym a few weeks ago.

At 200 yards in decent conditions, I will choose the 19 Hybrid. In indecent conditions, a 5 wd.

The key to a fairway wood is a low kick shaft if spin and/or speed is an issue.

I am trying to find out what most of you are playing, as I  need help deciding what way to go next year. Last year was okay, but some high scores here and there. Shoot 39 on the front nine, then a week later at the same course and shoot 88 on 18?? I noticed Ping is a favorite among hybrids and drivers, and irons are all brands in between! I noticed some were hinging above the yardage listed??

3 wood is an ongoing project as I only have one hole on home course where I need a 3 wood off tee, a 198 yd par 3. I watch for a G400 to match the 5 wood, but to cheap to pay current ebay prices for a club I'd only use once a round. As I've moved to Cleveland irons, maybe a Launcher HB would work. I like the feel of a counter balance shaft in driver and 5 wood.

platgof - Thanks for taking up this topic again as I am in the process of revamping my own bag for 2021. I assume that your title is referring to those of us who's driver distance is around 200-210 yards, rather than asking what club we hit from that distance, correct?  I ended the 2020 season (November 14 in RI) with an index of 26.8 (anticap is 30.3 so I'm pretty consistent) down from around 32 when I took the game up again (after a 10-year layoff) in 2019 and hit my driver around 190-200.

In September, I went through an irons/wedges fitting and was fit for Ping G710 (7-UW) with Recoil F3 Smacwrap shafts and a Glide 3.0 56* Eye-2 grind wedge (I have played the original Ping Eye-2 SW off and on for years). Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for delivery, so probably won't play with them until next year.

New to the bag for the end of this season, however, are a Ping G400 10.5* driver (set at 11.5*), Cally Epic Flash Heavenwood (21*) and 9-wood (23*), and a Cleveland CBX2 60* wedge (also with a Recoil F3 shaft). I am "auditioning" hybrids and putters to fill out the bag. My goal is to build a set which will minimize my weaknesses.

I think you've summed things up quite nicely @Snowman9000.  Being able to reliably hit those 150-170 yard shots is going to make a huge difference in scoring because as all short knockers know; the second shot is everything and ours tend to be longer.🤷‍♂️

I'm still trying to play 6500-6600 yrd tees at 65 yrs - leaving me 170-190 out on many 420-450 par 4's unless I bust a drive.

For the last 2 months, I've worked on a more efficient and faster swing.

Fwys are vital, though. I'd suggest a good 5 wood  (or 4, 5/7 wd combo) with a low kick shaft, which are tough to find. You see all of these mid kick mid spin fwy shafts - forget that for me. A few years ago I went with a Graphite Design Tour AD F Fairway and they work well if you need height - when I switch to new heads, the old shaft goes into that new head.

I have found that the G700 irons can hold their own with hybrids. I carry a 5 iron now, and it has been years since that happened. For the shorter irons I really like the F9 irons. That 9 iron is stupid easy to hit at the stick. I play the senior tees and rely more on the short irons. I do have some of those 135-150 yard shots, and sometimes more. I hit my 7 iron around 135, not long at all. This time of year I just chill, as nothing is going to travel far in this weather.
