I am definitely going to hit it and compare it to my Proto+ and SIM2MAx which are both optimized. 
 

Nice thing is we can swap the Proto shaft right in the fit and then dial the swing weight with the weight ports. 

Optimized is a matter of opinion which is why we are all chasing something a little better!  That said, completely understand your very valid point.

 

I’ve been fit multiple times with poor on course performance.  At this point I optimize myself!  That said - I wouldn’t mind giving PXG a shot at it.  Maybe I’ll just have the optimize my Proto...

I'm currently trying to line up my fitting now. My guy has his Gen 4 irons in, but waiting on the woods & hybrids. Then I'll do a fitting for Proto FW & hybrids vs Gen 4, and Gen 4 0311T vs 0211ST.

I did see the 0211 ST and they are beautiful! Too much club for me, but man they look awesome.

To this day I am still irked by the massive price drops. I got my Gen3 in Feb 2020 full price and a month later they go on covid sale...nothing could be done for me as I asked my fitter I purchased from... I do like their product and got a Blackjack putter as well later in the year but the pricing thing was annoying. Because of this I probably won't get the Gen4 and try to play my Gen3 as long as possible.

Fortunately for you, the Gen 3 irons are INCREDIBLE (and definitely has the edge on aesthetics).

yep why i dont buy PXGs on release anymore as likely most wont.  Unless youre a PXG homer who has to have it right at release.  Lost good chunk of resale on a set of Gen3 XPs since they kept dropping price.  I get theyre wanting market share but lor of their customers buy and sell often and theyve obliterated the resale market.  Theres no premium cache anymore.

They already have your cash, why would they care about resale value? Most of their original customer base probably doesn't care as passionately as some on this thread do about flipping value towards the next set.

I've got a fitting on Friday. 0211ST & Gen 3 & 4 irons, then fairways & hybrids. I'll try to get some pics of everything.

Saw this posted on the Facebook group. This is the XP fitting head. I will say this looks better than originally expected compared to the promo images that were released. 

 

One of the fitters said the weights are only interchangeable during the fitting and once ordered will be glued in. So no swappable weights from PXG directly at least.

Looks so good. If I had a gripe and it’s minimal, it’s all the writing on the hosel neck. Could do with out that but who sees that anyway. The actual back of the iron is gorgeous.

They are even better in person. I hit the Gen4 P last week and it was so good. 
 

Actually he did a quick fitting for me in the P and a different shaft I am using now. Fit already for these. Numbers were the best I have seen for me in an iron. Lol

Any guesses how much Gen4 irons will be at release? I think this release would be a tough sell to customers now of the ‘usual’ $425+ per iron price point with all the recent 0211 releases and mark downs on Gen2 and Gen3s. That and customers being more educated and aware the prices of these irons will eventually drop over the course of a year like the Gen3’s did.

This is what the PXG webpage shows....but of course they will be less than this IMHO.

I have a Proto X with Ventus Blue 6s, has become my favorite club in the bag!!!! Point and shoot, super stable and LONG!

Mine is 6X, but this is my first Ventus. It's a great shaft.

 

Also, there will be an upgrade program for the Gen 4 stuff. Got an email from PXG about it. It depends on your previous purchases, and will give you a special price.
