Do you have it in the X or X+? How does it perform for you? I have the X but thinking of going X+ in some form or manner soon.

+ with my Tensei AV Raw Blue tipped 1/2” for the added weight at 44.5” is also very point and shoot. Long forgiving and love the simple alignment the crown view provides. It’s really easy and compares to my custom melted SIM 2 Max very well with the same shaft and grip set up.

They already have your cash, why would they care about resale value? Most of their original customer base probably doesn't care as passionately as some on this thread do about flipping value towards the next set.

I don't care too much about flipping them etc as I still have my set, but it's always a bad feeling when they drop the price so drastically and devalue your current set beyond belief.

I just got back from my fitting.  I didn't do the woods as they didn't have their Gen 4 yet, but I did hit the Proto woods.  They are very nice looking and set up well.  I will wait until later to compare the Proto/Gen 4 against my current Gen 2 woods, but it looks promising.

So, I went in with the intention to compare the 0211ST vs Gen 3 0311T vs Gen 4 0311T.  I am not sure what voodoo PXG is using, but they have something in the Gen 4 irons.  They are good.  Quickly about myself, I am a decent iron striker and miss is usually fat due to my neg AOA or a hook.  My strikes will lean towards the toe side.  I play to a 5-6 GHIN.  We hit the different models on Trackman until I found the one I liked the best, then with the winning head, we started dialing in the shafts, length, and SW.

The 0211ST look AMAZING.  So clean and simple.  The size is perfect for someone wanting a compact head, a touch smaller/thinner than the 0311T.  But, that's it, no special technology packed inside like the others.  They are great when you strike them well, but today I was very inconsistent and my toe strike was on full display.

On to the Gen 4.  I started out with the T.  I hit some really good shots and some bad ones, the fatty.  My fitter said we should try the P as it has a wider sole and will help me glide through the turf better.  So we tried the P next (sidebar, the Gen 4 P is almost the size of the Gen 3 T and smaller looking than the Gen 2 P).  So shot after shot I went, and I could tell that the P was better for me.  My numbers across the board were better than the Gen 2 P.  My dynamic lie came down, my club head speed went up 5 MPH, height and spin were consistent, and land angle was in the right zone.  As far as "feeling" goes, I'm not sure how to explain it, but you guys will understand, when you think of that "flush" shot.  The sound is good, the ball coming off the face is soft almost like you didn't feel it.

The Gen 3 were great, and a lot better than my Gen 2 P as well.  Numbers wise they were better as well. Compared to the Gen 4, I would say that felt as good as the Gen 4, but slightly not as soft.  Numbers wise they were just barely worse.  I ended up trying many shaft options with the Gen 4 P but found the KBS C Taper Lite to be "it".  That combo was just so consistent and felt great.  Heck my mishits were better than my top end numbers on my Gen 2 P.

Now my dilemma.  Do I order the Gen 4 irons, knowing they will be cheaper later this year, or do I just say screw it and buy them?  They won't be shipping out until the end of April, if you get in on the first series of orders.  I would be happy with the Gen 3, I am sure.  They are that much better than my Gen 2.

If you liked the Gen3 irons, look for them to be priced even lower than the current $199 once the Gen4 is released!

That will be the bargain club to jump on.

That's an opportunity cost you need to decide whether or not you'd like to pay. Also, there's no guarantee Gen4 is going to be cheaper later this year. If the Gen4 P were near the size of Gen3 T, is Gen4 T considerably smaller?

It's hard to explain, but the eye, the Gen 4 T was slight smaller and shorter board length, than the P. The Gen 4 P compared to the Gen 3 T looked about the same, more offset in the P. My Gen 2 P looked bigger than the Gen 4 P. At least to my eye.

That's what I'm thinking. I go back and forth. Heroes price is $179 for Gen 3 right now. I may do the full bag Gen 3 special. You get Gen 3 irons, Proto driver, woods, forged wedges, battle ready putter, bag, and a hat. Then I could sell the Proto driver and battle ready putter. Not sure.  Haha

I have my fitting on Tuesday, I'll be getting the XP's again for sure. I've been in the Accra Tour 100i

(Gen 1 and 2) and now 90i (Gen 3) graphite for the last 6 years. Problem is since Covid the 90i's are not available. Going to try the MMT 80 as they seem to be the closest to what I have now. They come in right at 86 grams.

Kinda surprised to hear they won't ship till the end of April, that sux!!!

I'm curious to see what they do w/ pricing, I think its BS they are offering a discount if you bought Gen3's in the last 12 months, but the people who paid $425/stick don't get any discount offer (11/19-02/20).

Not sure I'm sold on the HT1770 steel used in the Proto fairway and hybrid faces. Definitely feels harsh compared to Gen2. Club performs, but not liking the feel might make me send it back and try my luck with Gen4 and their heads to see if the feel is different with same face. If not, I will keep my Ping G410. Wish they would offer a ti face like Taylormade.

I spoke to my fitter at length today (he has fit me two previous times and has been spot on with his assessments). Here are a few of the notes:

-The Gen 4 irons fly “really straight”. Fitted some very good players this weekend and their description of the feel was “snappy” and “super clean”.

-The biggest takeaway: with the Gene 4 irons, the T heads are generating the same ball speeds as the Gen 3 Ps

-The driver is very good; a college player picked up enough ball speed over his gamer that his coach questioned whether or not the club was legal (I know the catcalls will come with this one...I am only reporting what I heard).

-My fitter said everyone loves the new Bat Attack (battle ready) putter.

-A full bag fitting includes a new bag

-Irons are available for fitting; woods are a couple of weeks away

I'll be watching to see if Pat Perez dumps the SIM2 driver and 3 wood for the new GEN 4 woods.

As well as his Gen 2 irons for the Gen 4 irons.

Not sure who's bag this is but (Perez see below)...well it speaks for itself.

I literally just concluded about 4 weeks of testing my Proto+ vs my SIM2MAX almost identical builds from head set up (weights and hotmelt) tipping of shafts, type of shafts, down to grip and of course swing weight and length/lie. I can see why he is testing. They are so comparable and I could game either one and feel like I’m leaving nothing on the table. Albeit my PXG I mention is a Proto+  and not the new Gen4, I’m sure it’s down to preference and how well the miss retains ball speed. There is something that detours me with the face (maybe twist face) at address or maybe the paint lines, that makes the set up to my eye really favor the Proto+. Also, I can say that I’m a pretty good striker of the driver in terms of face strike pattern and aside from a 1/10 freak ball out of the SIM2MAX there is very little in it between the two and a step further I feel my low center strike miss is a lot less punished with the heavy weight in the front port vs the TM SpeedSlot tech. My sense is which ever looks better, minimizes the miss, and gets it on the course wins. Either can be built to do this for any player but the look is fixed.

$388/iron w/ C-Tapers, that’s a NO from me after paying $425/iron for Gen3’s only to watch the price tank.  I’ll pick some up in 6-18 months for $200/iron or get the 0211STs when they hit $89/iron in a few months.

What’s the discount for buying Gen3’s in the last 12 months?

PXG GEN 3 vs GEN 4 IRONS

Lengths are measured differently

1.  Offset the same;

2. Top rail thickness the same;

3.  Sole width about 0.005" narrower in G4

The Gen4 updated driver head cover with the white section (mimic of the AV crown) is a nice touch.

Agree. Pretty cool looking.

Looking at the pricing structure now that everything is basically in play for the year, PXG has a really nice pricing scheme: value, middle of the road, and premium (SD wedges ultra premium), with options at each stop. Looking at the past discounts, they really used them to increase sales and probably move excess inventory awaiting this last piece of the Gen4 puzzle (and some putters alike). How do you stir direct interest in your stuff when its already a season aged and everyone else launching new stuff...DEALS BABY! Now the pricing makes sense top to bottom...of course simply an opinion from someone who makes analytical decisions everyday off of spreadsheets and pricing structures world wide.

If we don''t see any additional discounting (other than whats listed), I would not be too surprised at all.  Probably next big discount is when 0211 Gen3/ Gen5/ or PROTO2 is released.

I am of the school if you hit it, like how it works and the performance is real...get it to play for the year(I have yet to do this lol) and enjoy it.  Thats worth more to me than the savings.

The lack of additional discounts on Gen 3 and Gen 2 equipment is not totally unexpected. They can't deliver the new Gen 4 stuff for about 4-6 weeks, so they will keep the previous generations priced as high as they can until the Gen 4 becomes generally available. It's just business, but the older stuff will eventually get further discounted. Until then, I'll just play what I have and wait it out. What does sort of urk me is that I had a forged wedge in my cart last week at $149, only to see that they raised the price to $199 on Monday when I went to order it. When to buy stuff has become a bit of a Las Vegas crap shoot.

PXG GEN 3 vs GEN 4 IRONS

Lengths are measured differently

1.  Offset the same;

2. Top rail thickness the same;

3.  Sole width about 0.05" narrower in G4

On the P's the loft is 1 degree stronger on the Gen4. I found myself hitting the Gen4 P nice and high..and long!

Yes it is!   Here is the performance numbers G3 vs G4:

Looks like the stronger loft helped with lower spin( -600 rpm is responsible for much of the 8 yd distance gain) while the launch was similar only half degree lower.

Well said post.

I agree that they have a very sensible and "something for everybody" pricing structure now.

My only issue, is the the reveal of the Gen 4 just made my decision more complicated.  I am going to take advantage of a much larger than expected Tax Refund, and I had been going back and forth on going for the Gen3 Full Bag deal, or just going for the Gen3 irons, as I really don't know how much more benefit I'd get from the driver and wood over what I currently have.

But the price of the Gen 4 irons, was lower than I was expecting, so if I just went with the Gen 4 irons, I'd be right in the middle of what the other two options would costs.   I have spoken to a buddy who tested the Gen 4 irons for another site, and he said the Gen 4 irons are a marked improvement in performance and feel vs any other PXG iron he has tested.  And he's a very practical non hyperbole type.  So that definitely is saying something.
