PXG Gen 4 STICKS (Irons & Woods)... 2021

Just got back from my fitting. Getting the Gen 4's 5 - GW with the MMT 80 Graphite shafts. I would've stuck with the Accras (had them in all my PXG irons, Gen 1, 2 and 3) but since Covid they have been unable to get the Tour 90i's.

 

The MMT's come in right at 86 grams and everything else was close to the same.

 

Should have them before the end of the month!!!!!

Lengths are measured differently

 

1.  Offset the same;

2. Top rail thickness the same;

3.  Sole width about 0.05" narrower in G4

Which model Gen4 you get? What is your opinion of them having played all the series?

Did you hit both the gen3 and gen4 irons? If so what was the feel and performance difference between them.

Just noticed they increased the driver lengths to 45.5 instead of standard 45 as in the past. Get fit!!!

can anybody compare the hybrids to each other? I'm currently gaming a gen2 19* hybrid with the weights in the back, and wanted to know how the 3 new models compare. I prefer the high ball flight and MOI that the weights in the back give me on the gen2.

I got the XP's again, why not get as much forgiveness as possible right. I'm not getting any younger. Too be honest performance wise the numbers were about the same. I was consistently about 3 yards longer but there is something different about the feel. As we all know feel is subjective so it's hard to describe. 

 

Even if performance and feel were identical to my Gen 3's I would have bought them on looks alone.

I am probably going to use the 45” Ventus Red (or Blue)  I currently play in my Proto +.

This thread is about GEN4 and I haven't hit those yet, so maybe I shouldn't even be posting in this thread.  

 

Gen2 hybrid (current gamer) was most forgiving overall in my experience, and longer than 0211 as well.  Proto was less forgiving over all, but not terrible.  However, hitting the sweet spot with the proto felt better and went further than Gen2.  Slight mishits with the Gen 2 were however, punished less in my experience.  0211 launched higher (bad for me who already launches high), had more spin, and didn't go as far or feel as good...  It wasn't a bad club, it just isn't as good as my Gen 2 or Proto.

 

my 19* Gen 2 is my alternate club off the tee, fairway finder.  I love that club.  I was interested in the extra distance from the Proto, but my dispersion was better with the Gen2.  Who knows, could probably change once I get used to it.  That being said, I did get a 22* Proto.  If that starts performing, I will go back and look at the 19 and 17.  

 

I am curious to see how the Gen 4s compare.  If there are THAT much better.  It is interesting the toe weight is gone, and I have yet to see anything confirming internal weighting as a lot of people are assuming.

 

I just love the stealth, sleeper look of my Gen 2 and Protos.  I really don't like the silver ring with the PXG logo on the crown.  Nearly every other MFG does something similar, and I liked that my driver isn't a billboard.  In other news, old man yells at cloud....  haha.

I have played all 3 three previous generations. In my opinion, each Gen iron has been noticeably better than the previous Gen. 
 

Gen 4 is undoubted better than Gen 3. Straight, straight, straight ball flight, hot face, and the ball really jumps off the club face . My fitter relayed that Gen 4 T ball speeds are equivalent to Gen 3 Ps. 
 

I am getting older, so now I am a little torn between the Ps snd the XPs.

I would have no use for it at all, but I really wanna try the gen4 2 wood. Ive got the TM original one which is a lot of fun but pretty limited to just tee use. I can hit it off the deck but its a low launch missile

 

obvious solution is sell the Original One and buy the 2 wood right?? haha

 

For sure gonna order the 3w today. After hitting the 0211 3w again yesterday it just doesnt do anything for me

I think they both look awesome...Proto and Gen4. One is more in your face and one more subdued...for me lots of pros and cons on both sides. I am looking for a little BS and looking forward to a test with my shafts and specs

No recoils period. They wont even custom order shafts anymore like they used to. I tried to have a set built with recoil 125 protos or MMT 125 and both requests were a no.

It might be a few weeks before any of those kind of comparisons can be made. Gen 4 driver/fairway demo heads haven't even made it to the fitters.

I have compared the SIM2MAX and my gamer Proto+ with a Gen4 X driver on order.  Really similar performance with some certain visual and performance attributes for each. I game the Proto+ mainly for the symmetrical appearance behind the ball (SIM2 and MAX are both like the Gen4XT a more tear drop shape vs symmetrical) at set up and for the toe side of center miss along with the occasional center low miss which seem to both favor the Proto+ for me with the added weight to the toe and center port.

 

Once I get my Gen4X it will be a full test.  Stay tuned.
