2021 Hoofers?

It looks like the lite is pretty tight the opening on top?  That's the one thing I love about the 2.5+, the top opening is pretty damn big

I had both in hand at the same time and would say the top sizes are pretty much the same.  Likewise, I think the Hoofer and Hoofer Lite have the same top size.  The Hoofer just seems to bloat out more for added pocket space.

really, that surprises me, but I've only seen the hoofer lite in stores, so haven't done the side by side

will have to re look at that at the shop next time

I posted some side-by-side pics and comments about the 2.5 vs Hoofer Lite on PAGE 24 of the below thread.  In the pics the 2.5 top looks slightly bigger than the Hoofer Lite, but it could be due to the angles of the bags in the pic.  When loading them both up with clubs I didn't notice the tops to be that different, except the 2.5 is a little squarer up top which gives a bit more room.  Keep in mind I only carry 8 to 12 clubs, so I wouldn't notice the size issues anyways...

Having owned both the Hoofer and Hoofer Lite, I would say that the Lite seems a little smaller up top and club tangle is much worse than in the Hoofer.  Still existent in the Hoofer which also bugs me, but better than the HL.  I owned 4 or 5 Hoofer Lites before I finally gave up on them... the bag in theory is perfect but the club tangle was enough to drive me nuts and I know people say "if you stand it up straight, the clubs go right in"... that may be mostly true but I do put my bag on a pushcart most of the time and whatever the interior design is of the Hoofers, the clubs seem to find a way to bind.  I have a Jones Utility that is much smaller up top than both the Hoofer and HL and I do not have this issue.  Also FWIW, I only carry 13.  

 

I may give my Hoofer another shot tomorrow on the cart just to confirm but when the HL is only a half pound lighter, the Hoofer is a no brainer to me for the extra storage capacity and the pockets open up much better.

To me the big difference between the Hoofer Lite and Hoofer is the pocket space.  I don't even fill up the Hoofer Lite pockets, so would just have superfluous pockets if I had the Hoofer.  To me the Hoofer looks kind of ugly the way it bloats out to create that extra pocket space.  The Hoofer Lite looks more streamlined and minimal which is what I'm looking for.  There is no wrong choice, just whichever fits you better.

I agree with you on the odd look with the Hoofer shape vs the lite. I wish they added the magnetic pocket to the Hoofer Lite and it’d be a winner for sure

I actually prefer the zippered pocket since I use that pocket for tees, divot tool, a few loose balls (so I'm usually only in that pocket before and after the round).  But I could definitely see the magnetic pocket as a very popular choice for rangefinder storage (I use a Bushnell Phantom 2 that stays in my back pocket).

Love it. I was really drawn to the Hoofer Tour but it's just a little too much for me. Little bit too large, little bit too gaudy. Hoofer lite tour seems like the perfect balance of functionality and style.

Gamola golf is legit, good company here in Aberdeen. He was a few years above me in High School, him and his mum started the company. They used to be out of a small industrial unit and now in a lovely old building with a huge store. I have bought numerous times from them. I have had a couple of clubs done by them and it was not the best but that can be said about a lot of places.

Ping just launched an online exclusive ryder cup hoofer lite that doesn't look too shabby in the red white and blue scheme. Much better than the previous red white and blue with huge stars all over it. Priced at $280 but I doubt it will last.

Got my hoofer lite tour from Gamola Golf out of the UK. Took about a week and half for it to arrive to the west coast. In love with the style and seems light and sturdy. Website still shows out of stock so not sure when/if they are getting more but I feel like I really lucked out.
