Can't use any tape under the grip, has to go on the bare shaft, so no midsize or build up tape.  But the future of it looks bright and could put those of us who regrip as a business is trouble down the road.

I like the Z-Grip non cord texture. There are definitely limitations:

- No shaft diameter under .48"

- Not extra tape

- No ARCCOS like sensors

But for those of us who don't have the ability to re-grip themselves, this is a nice option. I'll definitely be giving them a try.

I think I will do my driver, 3h (my worst grip), my 7i and my 56 wedge. That gives me a good mix of clubs to try and if I don't like the Helix these all need grips I bought already.l anyway and are peeped and ready.

Will these come in a .580 and .600 size?  Or round and rib? My current bag has shafts that are .620, .610 (woods), and .600 (irons) butt size.  Thus I use differing wraps of tape to compensate and therefore get a uniform feel.  Don't see you can do this with these grips.

.600 round only for now. Rib will likely not be feasible with this technology given how it is installed.

So I installed my driver and 3 hybrid. The driver feels good, but the hybrid still seems to twist. I will keep fussing with it. If I get it ti feel as solid as my driver, I will do my pair of irons. I will hit the driving range tomorrow. The weather sucks for the next week or so, so not sure when I will get a round in. But I will be hitting the range at least.

Overall the grip feels nice. I still prefer the wrap, but this might work.

The install is straight forward, you can't really mess it up. At least I couldn't.

A note in the box was cool. I do like the feel, so I will hit the range at lunch and see what's up. Driver, 3h, 5i and 8i. Nike Vapor Pro Combo irons, so I wanted to try both the cavity and blade.

So first impressions are really good. They feel very secure and I didn't notice a weight difference at all.

I will not commit to a full set just yet, but it sure isn't out of the question. I might have stretched them on install, but they feel good.

Old iron wrap on 6 vs Helix on 5. And my 3 hybrid and driver.

The end cap isn't that much larger than the one on my wrap. I honestly didn't notice that it was that much different.

I got to play 3 holes before I got rained out. But I went 3-3 GIR with my 5i, 8i and 3h with the new grips. I returned my wraps and ordered the full set.

It won't be me, but I wonder if anyone has tried building them up with masking or painter's tape?  I know you're not supposed to, but that doesn't seem to stop anyone from trying.

I would think a layer or two would work as the grip seems to adjust for a variety of sizes. But maybe there is something that prevents the grip from securing because it might tear into the tape while tightening.

My guess is they will be offered in standard sizes, but if a standard size doesn't work for you, you might be SOL.

I realized this morning that I had only ordered 6 when I actually needed 8. I called support and left a message.

I emailed support and Katie at Golf Pride is sending me 2 free because I offered my feedback. So they seem to have really good support, too.

9 rounds today playing the new grips on just about every hole. They work really well, I am very happy with these.

If you need tape and stuff, these won't work. But if you like a standard sizes grip, I would say to try them. I love the idea and think these are awesome for a first try at a very new concept. I am swapping everything but my 56 wedge.

Got the rest of my grips, took about 15 minutes to install. One club had some residue and the grip stuck half way. Backed it off, wiped down, redo.

These are crazy easy and I am obviously sold. 12 grips total, I am keeping my sand wedge grip for now and I still have a club to buy. So everything I currently game minus the SW and putter are Helix grips. Hope to get a round in soon.

Have to wonder how this grip will hold in place on a shaft.  Have been using air for years.  Discovered early on that blue painters tape was a must.  For myself, I need 2 layers of the tape so the grip will stay in place before I wear it out.  Doubt I would ever use one of these grips, but do like the concept of trying to make it easier for the average person to change their own grips.  Granted, most of use can go on about the pro & cons of that.  However, I like the idea of trying to make it easier for someone to start understanding parts of their equipment.  That little candle flicker of knowledge could open doors.

What brand grips? I blew on Pure grips for a while and never used tape; no movement either.

Mostly PING clubs, with TaylorMade woods.

Getting the old tape off was by far the hardest part of the install, just saying.

Pure grips, Golf Pride, Lamkin & Ionic.  Does not matter the brand, over time the grip will move if I do not use the tape.  This could be due to that I do not ever wear a glove.

That and perhaps weather, not sure though.

Really wanted to like these grips... but my hopes are not high. First grip onto a DG wedge shaft failed. Did not slip on easily and once on, turning the dial did not do anything (didn’t lock down). Removed grip and tried a 2nd. The 2nd one slipped on very easily and locked down. But during 2 rounds, the lower part of the grip has loosened and wiggles while the top half (butt end) remains firm. Talked to customer service yesterday and they are very helpful. Maybe some early problems that hopefully they will resolve. But for now, it’s back to tried & true grip tape & solvent.

I've gotten about 10 rounds on these and I love them. I make a point of hitting all my clubs at least 3 times per round and so far no movement or loseness on any of them.

I read on M G S that after turning the dial on the end cap, that the next step is to grab the head in one hand & twist the grip clockwise with your other hand, starting at the bottom and working your way up to the butt end. I don’t recall seeing this added step on the video. After doing this, I got my wedge to tighten up again.

Yeah, I told them the video didn't work in real life. It took me a little trial and error to get the tension right, then tighten the end after getting it clicked out.

Why not just buy a cheap vice and do grips the easy way (tape and solvent) ?  Plus you can use any grip and build up the way you want with layers.  Or even easier but a little more investment is use air.

Because. I tried, it was a mess and a pain in my a**. I can sit in my chair watching TV (that's how I did it). I don't need anything but a standard grip, so for me it's perfect.

I used to wire tie my motorcycle grips on to keep them from moving. Then ODI came out with clamp on grips and I've never looked back.

You could do the same thing with a golf grip and aluminum clamps like a bike grip. This seems to work really well for a first try. I think it might catch on, I know I won't go back.

<edit> you are obviously not the target market.

That's a great question. Should that happen, I guess I'll find out. Right now all but 2 clubs are gripped without issue. Once I have my other clubs and put the grips on, we will see.

There is a range of diamiters the grips fit on to, so as long as my shafts are in spec, I don't need any tape. I just tighten more or less.

When I took my old grips off, there was only a single layer of tape under each, so the grip size really isn't that different for mine.

Maybe you have some clubs that have more tape, I'm not an expert. I guess that's why I love the simplicity of these.
