I was able to get out and play in the AM90s today. First, it wasnt the best day to test spikeless shoes. It hasnt rained in a few days, but it was really rainy before that. There were a few muddy spots on the course, and the course overall was a bit damp. I dont have an aggressive swing, and I generally keep fairly well balanced. All that being said, I lost grip quite a few times. Off the tee (where it was dry) and in the fairway (where it was anywhere from wet to muddy). Maybe these are good practice shoes to make sure that I'm totally balanced in my swing. I didnt ever have any issues with traction on the AM1s, but they had more aggressive tread than the AM90s. I'll still give these another try, maybe in the late spring or summer when it's fairly dry. However, these might be summer only shoes. It's a shame, because I really like the look. They kept the water out at least...

 

As an aside, after the round the shoes were muddy. I threw them in the washing machine like I normally do... They came out discolored. 😞 I'll get a pic later today.

Damn man... I really like the look of the 90s. But I will return them if they have quality issues as you say. What a bummer!!

I would have agreed with you, but I’ve recently acquired the fearless 270s and must admit the volt looks very good on them.

I’ve since ordered the ‘cyber’ coloured anorak to match them, and I don’t think it will be too dissimilar of a colour to volt. But I’ll judge what I think of that on arrival, might end up going back if it’s too garish.

 

Personally I think Nike golf really overuse the colour volt, it’s becomes a colourway on everything at some point. Might be a bit of a novice question, but does anyone know where the craze with volt began?

I know they have been getting terrible feedback, but the infrareds 90s are up on golf galaxy for preorder.

No way that's the design and it's a break-in issue. That's horrible. They made the last way to narrow probably which is the direction they're been going. The 270 is atrociously narrow. The only thing I can think of is they're trending towards all shoes being unisex.

I’m watching him on the range and the heel of this shoe appears to be pronounced like the Nike Pegasus running shoe

I don't think they look narrow -- I think the SOLE is too narrow for the upper. That front-on profile pic looks ridiculous. 

 

And the back of the heel sticks out like the bumper of an F150. Why?

lol he seems like an AM 90 guy so it works.  I agree though the Roshe tours are one of the best golf shoes and never should have been replaced.

I think it would be cool if they lingered on for a few seasons until they got some form of replacement?

 

They should have put the RV2 midsole on it and called it "upgraded" would have cost $0 to make the change, haha

I just ordered another pair of the white with black swoosh Roshe G Tours on ebay. Gonna stick to those this year unless something else comes out. These that Rory is wearing just are not doing it for me. I had to switch to a wide size in 2020 anyway...those look painfully narrow.

Since it looks likely I’ll be returning my 90s due to quality issues. I just ordered my first pair of roshe tours on the Bay. Found a new pair of the “ Enemies of the course” in my size for a great price.

I bought 270 Gs and they were so uncomfortable I had to sell them immediately. Why would Nike make a shoe so uncomfortable in the toe area? What purpose is there in making a shoe that hurts to walk in? You had one job, Nike.

They can't make a shoe that fits every single foot comfortably. I guess they could/should offer wide versions (if they don't). 270 Gs were the most comfortable walking shoe I've ever had though.

Keep in mind Rory's shoes are still probably pre-production prototypes-ish. Yes the design is more or less settled but this is the first time he's worn them in competition so he'll take his pluses and minuses back to Nike after the tournament and they'll make adjustments and they'll also take a look at pictures like the ones above and make adjustments based on those as well before settling on a final design and sending them to a full production run. These aren't supposed to drop until I thought April so theres still a month and a bit for them to make design tweaks before they start running production for the retail version

 

Do we all not remember how many designs Tiger went through when working with Nike to get the TW13? I remember those things were on his feet for months before they actually made it to retail
