Is the "square" driver going to show itself soon?

I am wondering when the square driver will make a comeback? I think we will a head or two in 2021 that gets close. What do you guys think? Personally, I was a fan but they seemed so "draw"bias back then...

I actually really liked the Callaway IQ. Preferred it much more than the triangular IZ series.

I bring it up because one of the releases in 21 the head from pics looks square to me...

Square shaped drivers are done due to aerodynamics and what the OEMS now know about airflow drag. Two years ago they all talked about ball speed maintained across the face, last year the main speak was aerodynamics. This year with the newer designs we will again hear the same.

Which company are you referring to?

Until they fix the sound they'll stay in the past.  Some of those could be heard across the golf course and rattled you teeth if you were on the same tee box.

Nike SQ Sumo Squared anyone?  Those sounded like cow bells.  Literally made my ears ring.

If Nike was still in the golf club business, I think they would have brought this back but with better sound 🤣

The Callaway FT-iq Tour was one of the greatest drivers ever produced. I never hit a driver straighter in my life.

I'll be the first to buy it. I once owned 3 Nike Dymo2's just in case any of them broke. I played it for almost 3 seasons, still a record for me

How about another concave crown? The cleveland launcher hibore xl was a phenomenal driver back in the day.

I really hope physics never proves the square driver to be better. For some reason I could only slice them when I hit the Nike and Callaway a few years back. It would take me so long to get used to one.

Same here i have never been straighter than I was with the ft iq, I was giving up distance with it though which was my reason for changing.

Dam they were ugly though...lol. That Callaway did tighten the dispersal, but I couldn't get over the aesthetics.

My accuracy with that driver was ridiculous. I hit so many fairways 😂

My buddy still plays the square yellow NIKE. He absolutely smokes that thing!

 

He bought a backup for $20 to use when/if his original breaks, or more likely, wears out.

My first "real" driver was an Adams Insight XTD Pro (with Boxer Technology). It got good reviews at the time, but I didn't know good from bad. 

 

I can't remember what I did with the head, but I'm actually using the YSQ shaft from that driver in my M5 right now.
