How to save ferrules when pulling graphite shaft

I have a set of irons with steelfiber shafts and nice BB&F ferrules that I want to rebuild.

I been able to save and reuse ferrules a number of times when pulling heads from steel shafts but not sure how it could be done with graphite iron shafts.

I have a nice shaft puller, but it pulls against the top of the hosel.

Any ideas how else to do it?

Assuming the ferrules were not epoxied in place, you may want to try running hot water over the ferrule then use a gloved hand to see if you can slide it up.

I usually use the rubber shaft clamp and clamp around the ferrule and then see if I can rotate the ferrule and slide it up.  As Nessism said, any amount of epoxy under the ferrule usually means NO.

If it's a whole set of irons, I usually weigh the odds of me screwing one up and then being in a position of not having a matching ferrule.  If it's likely that one is going to get ruined, I cut them all off and save myself the effort.  Or if I do attempt it and one fails, it's like having only 5 numbers in the Powerball.

Always order more than you need of ferrules that you like to use.

If you have a puller that isnt the corkscrew type - but pulls the adapter out by a driver screw - you can do it much easier.

But either way tbh I would just put a new one on. Chances are theres epoxy under it and/or it wont mate nicely to the new adapter and you may have a small gap or etc.

You will spend as much time trying to save the old ones as you would just cutting and putting on new ones.

Sometimes, it is worth the effort.  I have an old set of Hogan blades that I reshafted.  I would have liked to save the ferrules.  I got through 4 irons and then ruined the 5th.  Done like dinner.  If I ever put the original steel shafts back in, it would have been nice to have the original ferrules, but not to be this time.

I like the hot water idea. I was thinking heat gun/torch would just melt them, but the HW might just work. Thanks!

I soak mine in a coffee mug off water that I nuked for about 2 minutes. I just stand 2 at a time in the cup on my bench so the others don't get too hot. I let it sit for about 10/15 seconds,  then I have a Golf Pride 2G wrap I have cut a few inches up and I slide over the ferrule and twist a few times and It'll come right off. The inside of the 2G is almost like that rubber grip thing your mom had to open cans with. I use a dab Brampton epoxy under the ferrules on builds and this method seems to work perfectly on removing that. It very easy and takes no time at all.
