How to design a putter?

A bit more progress today. Done the insert (304 SS) and made some weights (copper) and finished off the basic machining of the head.

Just need to set it up on the angle to do the loft. Insert screws will be replaced with torx or allen key later..

I have a feeling it may be too light but our greens are fast so I'll try it and see:

How did you do the facemilling? And how deep is it?

 

The solution to have the face and the weighting in the same part is niece.

The facemilling was done using a drilling cycle on the CNC, approx 0.15mm deep, with a 63mm diameter single tip facemill.

By using the drilling cycle I can alter where the grooves are, depth etc really easily.

Shaft is on the way so hoping to have this one up and running by the weekend.

Only problem is I have already started work on the 2nd design....304SS (from Germany 😉 ) single piece design for easier machining. At least the shaft will fit in the same way so I'll not have to buy another shaft.
