Anyone hit any 2021 drivers already?

Recommended Posts

I'm playing it with a Ventus Black 6S (swing speed about 105......so not a MONSTER like some of you on here.)

I'm coming from an Epic Flash SZ.....sticking with the same loft of 9.  Shaft if the EF SZ has been a HZRDUS T1100 6.0 (the chrome version....not retail).  Then I switched to the Ventus Black 6S a couple months ago.  The Ventus is super stable....I love it.

So are you hitting the Epic Speed? The Max? Or the Max LS? There isn't a Speed Max LS.

Yea I guess you're right.  I though the whole family of drivers was considered the "EPIC SPEED" series....but i must be mistaken.

I am hitting the Epic Max LS.  Sorry for the mix up.

Huh, i also assumed that they were all epic speed as the series and then the max or max LS after...

Hit the RadSpeed today . My F9 10.5 cranked down to 9 w/weight back , stock smoke 6.5 60G shaft.  My F9 was 4mph faster than the RadSpeed with the same shaft , same settings.  The RAD did seem a bit more forgiving , I was turning the ball over right to left more as well. I prefer playing more of a fade . I also spun it MORE with the radspeed.  I have a pretty high AOA on average around +4 too much spin isn't an issue for me ...but the Rad was averaging in the 2700's where my F9 averaged out in the 2200's. Nothing to spark an interest to change from my driver.

I need to start by saying that I actually played yesterday with the Epic Speed standard model using my Ventus shaft.  It was my Pro's club that he loaned me.  To me, that one seemed to play exactly like my EF SZ with better sound.  So after the round I decided I didn't see the need to upgrade to the new model.  However, when I went into his office to return the head....he had just received the Max LS from the UPS guy.  So into my bag it went.

Just got home from the course......

This is a VERY IMPRESSIVE driver.  I am not sure its much longer flying than my Epic Flash SZ.....if at all....but I was getting quite a bit more roll out.  However....its as long as my EF SZ no matter where I hit it on the face.  I had a few loose swings that missed high on the toe......absolutely NO LOSS in distance and DEAD STRAIGHT.  To my eye...the face seems flatter on this  Max LS than my EF SZ or the SPEED.  Kinda reminds me of the Cobra Extreme as far as the "flat face".  But not FUGLY like the Cobra.

I played it +1 in loft with the sliding weight dead neutral.

Anyway.....I am very impressed.

Played my first round with the epic speed, got fitted indoors, never hit it outdoors until my opening tee shot (driving range is literally out of commission because it flooded) but the driver performed amazing. Had to get used to it for the first two holes as I’m not a good driver of the ball and indoor fittings/lessons sometimes don’t equate. I was really happy that I. This case they did, I could go at it as hard as I wanted and it was so stable. I’m not a wrx’er, clubhead speed ~100, and while I didn’t see nor expect huge gains in distance what stood out was that I could really go at it and  the ball did not get away from me. It’s such a great combo of speed and stability, I don’t feel I sacrifice anything.

The sound was a bit different outside than indoors, a bit more muted than what I heard, but fantastic nonetheless. I imagine the looks/shape may be polarizing but boy does it tick a lot of boxes. This has easily been my best 1st round experience with a new club ever, love this thing...

I hit the Ping G425 and Calloway Epic Speed. The Ping and I did not get along at all - it was a feel thing, no bueno.... Once we got the Epic Speed's launch dialed in - AoA 4.4* up, launch angle 13.4*, spin 2153 with ProV's - the  carry was better than my current driver, but not better enough to make me want to spend that much money to replace my 18 year old (conforming) TM R580XD. Once I work out some flexibility and swing issues I will revisit replacing the R580, but only because I might want the ability to more easily swap shafts and adjust loft.... Just as I did not pay $500 for my R580XD in 2004, it's replacement will not be a $500+ driver.

I have tried a multitude of the newest drivers for multiple rounds and have settled in to the Cobra Rad Speed, I will say I never thought to try this driver not really sure why.

I have gamed this year 95 MPH club speed play 5-6 days a week.

TSI 3

Epic Speed

Epic MAX LS

TM SIM 2

Ping G425

Cobra Rad Speed

Longest driver on the course TSI3 Oban Devotion 6

Most forgiving on the course Ping G425 project x hzrdus smoke yellow

Best mix of both Cobra Rad Speed fujikura motore f1

The epic MAX LS was a close contender to the TSI3 in distance I didn't keep either as the miss hits I found really dropped off carry wise but I can miss hit the Ping and Cobra and just don't see the drop off.
