Push cart - Bag Boy Nitron vs. Clicgear 4.0

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking into push carts to purchase instead of power carts to get some more steps in and burn some fat.

Based on reviews and YouTube seems like BB Nitron and Clicgear 4.0 are the two best. For those who own either or can you share some pros/cons of each bag and perhaps how you use each compartment?

I'll bump this - looking for the same thing, especially the net/personal items zone on both. I like the open net portion of the Clicgear 4.0 along with the closed plastic portion, as opposed to the Nitron without the open net. Would love feedback anyone has, thanks!

i haven't tried the 4.0 but had the 3.5+ amd moved in to the Bagboy Nitron....i say Nitron, hands down...

lighter weight and the storage bag under the handle is more functional then the 3.5+ which had the opening on top....also opening and closing is easier.

Check out the Caddytek from Costco.

I was looking at that as well. Are they comparable in everything other than cost?

I have two of them. I bought the first one from Costco about five years ago. It does not have the swiveling front wheel like the current model that Costco is selling (which I also have).  They are absolutely outstanding. I actually prefer the one without the swiveling front wheel and I think you can get that one from TGW. When I bought the first one, I also bought a clicgear at the same time so that I could compare both of them. I decided to keep the Caddytek, not only because it was less than half the price at the time, but also because I found it much easier to open and close. I’m sure you would get used to the opening and closing mechanism of the clicgear. They are both outstanding push carts.  But the Caddytek comes with almost every feature that is optional or an up-charge on the clicgear .

Great info, thanks! A buddy is putting me on his Costco membership so I can stock up on balls/gloves 😹 I’ll check this out at the same time. Appreciate the detail!

Funny, I could have written this as I'm in the same situation.  Nitron because it's lighter and easier to fold/unfold than my 3.5+.

Hey all. I owned both of these at one time and they both have their pro's with not many cons.

If you are looking for something built like a tank with not many features than clic gear is the way to go. Its heavy (in a good way) durable and does what it supposed to. The clicgear fails on its features. The top compartment holds a few thing but kind of annoying to use. The cup holder is also annoying it comes with one that can hold a small water bottle but you can buy a bigger one. My standby always gets crooked and slips around so I am always adjusting it. Again not a good design. The straps on my 3.5+ eventually frayed so the new 4.0 has replaceable silicone straps which Is a nice upgrade. Folding it open a close takes some getting used to its not fast but fast enough. Much heavier and more cumbersome than the Nitron.

The Nitron basically flies open and close due to the Nitron cartridge. Much lighter and easier to open and close. This bag excels on features. To start it has a big cup holder on top which fits a big cup and even my hydro flask. It also has a sweet cell phone holder which keeps your cell phone near the handle and visible as you are pushing. The storage compartment is spacious, its a black canvas that sits below the handle and is open but secure. I leave my rangefinder in there and easy to grab when needed. Lastly the straps are bungee and about the same as my old 3.5+ but Bagboy built a top lock system which kept my Sun Mountain bag in place and kept it forward. Even though it was built for Bag Boy it still worked on my Sun Mountain standbag. It didn't lock my bag but it did keep it in place with a little play. If you actually have a bag boy bag with top lock it actually locks the bag in place you don't even need straps. So like I said features go to Bagboy. One thing I cannot speak off is th over-all durability of the Nitron. The wheels are smaller and its much lighter. It seems to be strong enough but when comparing it to ClicGear, the ClicGear is built like a tank.

If I had to choose I would go Nitron due to the ease of use and features. I think its built strong enough to get the job done I really do enjoy the layout and features.

Hope this helps!

Couple of additional thoughts.

If you decide on a Clicgear, DON'T settle on a 3.5+.  The 4.0 is so much better with the new straps and bag position.

Mtex22 brings up a good point.  You might want to see how YOUR bag sets on each cart before buying.

I was delighted to find that my Titleist Hybrid 14 actually locks into my Nitron perfectly at the top.

And yes, you could ride a Clicgear they're so robust.

Not an issue for most people, but the Nitron's umbrella system is not great for tall people.  You can buy a separate umbrella system that will make it taller, but it is near impossible to use it without the umbrella falling forward or back since it ends up being attached to the side.  If it weren't for the umbrella issue, it'd be a perfect bag. Thinking about switching to Clicgear 4.0 just because of the umbrella problem. If use of the umbrella is not a big deal (or if you aren't particularly tall) then the Nitron is perfect.  I love the accessory bag under the handle as opposed to the Clicgear's setup with the mess bag between the handle and the golf bag.

Bumping this as I just received the Bag Boy Nitron from my four kids for father's day.  I plan to use it Friday for the first time but I love how easily and intuitively its sets up and breaks down and how easily it rolls.  The compartment is pretty cool too.  I was dragging a 20 year old Titleist anchor around previously.   People pay good money for a work-out like that.  I'm very excited about using this cart.

FYI... son borrowed my Nitron this weekend after leaving his CG 4.0 at home.  Said the Nitron was lighter and easier to push.  Liked it.
