Rickie Fowler is a cautionary tale in overexposing a superstar

he also has a big nut to cover. you think endorsements pay the same for top ten golfers and golfers ranked 82th

He got like 40MM in tour earnings

I imagine he’s made over 60MM in endorsements over the years.

Rickie take a permanent vacation and not worry bout anything.

Forbes says Rickie gets $10 million a year in endorsements. And that was in 2015.

I could see Rickie retire pro golf at 35. He even said golf not his first true love like motocross.

Plus, you get this feeling that a lot of pro golfers get driven crazy by the game, just the constant frustration. Not to say they don’t love to play golf for fun.

Rickie retire and support motocross riders and events. Start a business like...

I like Butch Harmon. However what he says as a swing coach is not gospel. Before anybody says wait what about Woods. Woods won without Butch too.

How many players have got better after leaving Butch?

Ha! Exactly.

I get the impression Butch tells guys stuff they don’t want to hear and they leave...and regret it.

Yep, I suspect this is Rory's issue too. Likes to surround himself with yes men, e.g. firing his proper tour caddie and hiring a friend. Sometimes a boot up the behind is the proper medicine even if it's not fun to take it.

Don’t know if Rory has this problem. Tiger realized this was an issue after a few years and left IMG for Steiny. IMG wanted to suck every dollar they could from Tiger and finally Tiger had enough. IMG lost tens of millions because of their greed. Tiger valued his time and rest above getting every dollar he could. Rickie hasn’t figured this out yet. In his recent comments, Rickie said all he does is practice when he has free time. Couple that with a swing change, being fairly newly married, and his sponsor commitments, does he have any time to recharge his batteries? Dump something. Dump your new swing. Dump a few sponsors. It’s time to see the light.

Monday afternoon, Fowler and his wife are going to the Bahamas, to celebrate Stokke’s birthday. “Nice chance to decompress for a few days,” Fowler said.

LOL.... I saw that. His tour on course earnings of $100 million is so off. Not sure what else is incorrect about Fowler. Care to expand.

That said Golf.com is great for making huge mistakes. Like this one from tonight about the specific holes that make up the Bear Trap. Hopefully in a few weeks they know the holes of Amen Corner.

The fearsome Bear Trap at PGA National (holes 16, 17 and 18)

LOL!!!!!!!!!

........

showed its teeth again at the Honda, playing a cumulative 72 over par in Saturday’s third round alone.

Some reading comprehension challegened folks around here. The article states he's made around $40 million on the tour, and likely more than $100 million including his off the course income.

the article was edited from this morning when it read he made 100 million on tour and most likely double that in endorsements. BTW it's challenged not challegened people in glass houses

A bunch, but whether or not what Butch says is gospel is impossible to say if he doesn’t coach them. The ones that do leave Butch don’t get better. What Butch preaches is golf gospel truth.

Lot's of them are worse because they get older. Butch has his best track record with players in their 20's.

Yeah, I mentioned earlier in this thread how Rickie's pre-Butch swing was extremely unsound, and together they turned it into a pretty damned solid swing.  I haven't checked to see if Rickie's departure from Butch coincided with his slide of late, but it wouldn't shock me.  Not saying Butch is a swing coach God, but he clearly helped Rickie tremendously.

Rickie, just swallow your pride and give Butch a call.  What do you have to lose!?!?

My earliest memory, and most lasting, is Rickie laying up on 15 at the Phoenix Open when he had a chance to win.

I think that speaks volumes about his character, and as many of us older folks have come to realize, people don’t change.

He seems like a terrific guy, though.

Well yeah. He might have changed though, funny my first memory of RF is him hitting a 3 wood from 243 all over water with about 8 yards of space to land the ball on no. 16 at TPC sawgrass in route to win the Players championship 2015😂

Personally if you stay on tour for decades. Win a few big tourneys and consistently make winnings and endorsement money - I would DEFINITELY call that a successful career. Every guy in this forum would quit their job today to just make some cuts on the PGA tour

Let alone making Rickie money. I think Rickie is one of the most overrated of all time but he has had a real successful career considering the only reason to play pro golf is to make a living. He is a filthy rich from golf.

With a sand wedge because he was 220 out and the water was probably from 150 to 190. Nervous move
