What are your thoughts on the pyramid grooves? Is it really soft? Still get any feedback from contact? 

 

I like the idea of them but don't like overly soft putters. But if it's soft with feedback that's a different story.

Initially I wasn't quite sold on them because the feel was a little different. It's sort of hard to explain as the ball comes off the face with a very soft "tock" feeling. The more I practiced with it though, I really started to get addicted to the feel.  

 

I play a firmer ball and the face makes any ball feel really good. It also grabs the ball and puts an immediate roll on it which is awesome. It's like the ball hugs the ground immediately off the face. It's like having an insert like an Odyssey but still metal feeling at the same time. Hopefully this makes a little sense 😂

I completely understand what you mean. So I have a SIK putter and the DLT grooves are spaced a decent bit apart so it has that kinda "tock" feel where you feel it and feel the ball off the face. But I also find I have a bit more confidence attacking the hole when putting. 

 

The one thing I'm always hesitant with a deeper milling or grooves is it being too soft or no feedback. I need something audible when I putt. But sounds like this isn't that. 

 

I also like the benefits of better roll without it feeling like mush like a lot of inserts do. Also anyone can do a fly mill, this is pretty unique and from what you and others say there is benefits to it. Think I may be leaning toward grooves if I get a KB. 

 

Just hope my ramblings made sense lol 😂.

...this is an old classic KB9305 model milled on a limited copper run of only 100 pcs in 1997 -- yours appears to be the 79th one custom made for the production run, awesome!

Received these images from Brendan this afternoon. Exactly as I had envisioned the finished product. I am certain the putter will be even more handsome in-hand. The sole and weights are blank.

I believe Kevin calls the neck a ‘Slant in the hosel’. It was built a little longer to try to get as close to face-balanced as could be achieved.

Yeah which is nice that he has 2 options for a slant neck especially if you want to throw in a graphite shaft. Was just curious what they looked like and now I know.

Three of these have passed through my hands. From Kevin when I asked him about it "Milled from solid. Made for Japanese market. Head weight 330g, 4 degrees loft and 71 degree lie angle."

Ask him on Instagram. Can you post pictures? I had an S-28 330g 4*. Santa Fe style flow neck. Stainless. Around 100-200 made in 1998-2000. Stuart Appleby played this style.

So he's ordering one too? lol. To be honest I wanted a KB since I got back into golf, but him not having a site and not having LH for a while to prices being higher at one point. I think now is the time for me to strike on one.

 

I mean he's one of the few guys to build a putter that won a major that anyone can get a putter from at a fair price.

600 is definitely not cheap, but considering what a custom Scotty would cost and what other brands are charging these days his is pretty cheap for his skill and background.

I’ve been eyeing custom putters for a long time. Today I decided to put in a order with Kevin Burns putters. I requested a phone consultation to discuss a couple questions and place my order and it was Kevin Burns himself. What an awesome guy. Truly enjoyed speaking with him. I placed an order for a 9309, can’t wait to see this beauty. 
 

I’m already trying to figure out which blade I’ll be ordering from him next.

I'm on a bit of a roll, had a custom arrive this week but have already email Brendan about building a KB, just waiting on a response and the process will begin. I was on the fence with the 9305 and 9306 and when Brendan told me the price of the 9305 vs the 9306 my mind was instantly made up. So it will be the 9306, going to decide on which neck and I have the rest of the putter pretty much thought out.

I needed a nudge lol. Honestly I would have ordered sooner but got a deal on the putter that just came in, also sold a bunch of extra clubs and got my OT pay so putter time. I may be ordering another from another brand not long after this cause of lead times.

 

But I'll update as things go along, his lead time is pushing 8-12 weeks right now so may be a while, but want my specs and build in ASAP and then wait.

Had a 50min phone call with Kevin today. Just wanted to go over necks and some specs to finalize my decision. Then we shot the shjt for a bit, talked about options, milling, milling time/setup cost, material, what I do for a living, my golf game, etc. 

 

I think I know what I want now, so the build sheet is going to be filled out and sent off for a quote.

I was on the phone with him for about 40 minutes, sent him videos and pictures of my stroke. Pretty hard to beat that!!!!!
