What’s the Best Feeling in Golf?

It's got to be a hole in one, what would anybody put above that? Even an Albatross wouldn't quite feel as good. A well struck and executed shot? pff, everybody has those ever round. Draining a tough forty footer? Those come multiple times every year, but a hio is a one in a lifetime type event. Nothing in golf compares to it.

I totally agree, but some of us haven’t really had that thrill yet.... 😭😭😭

I have two.

1) Unloading the clubs for me and my son and seeing his excitement (he's 8 yrs old)  about being at the course.

2) Standing on the putting green waiting for your tee time, having a few laughs with friends.

The triumphant feeling of finally being able to watch one of my German Shepherds trotting around and diligently picking up my practice balls and carefully depositing them into my practice ball bag after months of training and encouragement - all without leaving any gnash marks in the covers - was right up there with the birth of my children, graduation ceremonies, the purest 1-iron I can remember, five holes in one, various team caps and three amateur course records.

On the tee box with the wind at your back on a long Par 5 and knowing you might have a shot at stringing together a driver/3W “on in two eagle opportunity” if you nuke both.

I'm a cynical person who enjoys hitting a club pure as much as the next guy, but honestly, being outside on a beautiful day with friends is as good as it gets for me.  My dad is a single digit handicap, and he can't enjoy golf if he isn't playing well.  Most of my friends are the same way.  I like to play well and I'm plenty competitive, but it's not the same or me.  I feel like I have some kind of superpower because even if I shoot 10 shots over my typical score, if it's nice out, I have some cold beers, and I'm catching up with friends, I'm having a great time.

it is not the kudos, applause or momentary satisfaction afforded by a single, well crafted shot, but much more...a feeling that is known to be utterly transitory, but nonetheless, it happens for JP while walking in the fairway and the step is lightened by the awareness that at this moment, he feels like he has a semblance, an inkling, a fleeting notion that he is playing and executing at a very high level and the game feels easy, unburdened in any way by failures, an oyster with a pearl. things slow down, his breathing is deep but unforced and his mind has this clarity that is...what JP imagines it is to be godlike. it's that sense of mastery that will be undone too soon. utter grace.

Little flex on mine, puring a blind 2nd shot onto a Par 5. You get to the green, but can't find the ball anywhere, search all around the green, in the bunkers, but the ball has vanished. Then it hits you.... NO WAY, walk up to the hole to take a peek and there's your ball in the hole for an Albatross.

Actually, I like the little gifts the golf Gods give me now & then.......like making a sand save for par, or chipping & one-putting for par, birdies and the once in a while eagle are, of course, huge.  Everyone loves long straight drives and shots you know you hit pure.  Personally, I love watching a well-hit wedge land on the green very softly, exactly how & where I intended it.

Cool stuff in this thread. I’d echo the points about flushing your irons, bombing your driver past your buddies or cutting dog-legs, and draining birdie or eagle putts. I’d also add sticking a wedge tight especially when it dances and sucks back toward the cup. 
 

Honest question about the cart girl...has any golfer ever “scored” (scored here can mean a lot of things) with the cart girl after flirting with her while she rolls up and asks if you want anything?  I see guys flirting with them all of the time, and the looks on most of their faces are priceless!

For me it’s a putting heater.  
 

 

when you get on a run in competition and make 5/6 in a row , no matter the distance , that’s the greatest feeling I’ve had.  The cup literally looks like a bucket.  
 

second being that feeling when you break through to another level.  Depending on what and when sometimes the two come together.
