Striping a drive is nice but for me hitting a crisp mid iron shot that drops on the green is what keeps me coming back.

probably envisioning a shot, and then executing it exactly how you imagine. i say 'probably' because i have yet to find out what it feels like 🤣

Stepping onto the first tee with a brand new golf glove that fits perfectly and has that "new glove" smell. 

 

Did that yesterday, but the resulting shot from that tee box goes into the "worst feeling in golf" thread so I won't continue. 😂

Finding your ball in bounds after hitting a provisional, specially when gambling with your friends. The disappointment on their faces is the cherry on top.

Hitting an iron on a long par 3 of over 200 yards and hitting the green while all your playing partners are hitting 3 woods or hybrids. Physically, I think the best feeling is when you catch an iron just pure...

Probably a good punch shot from under a tree that ends up on the green. A close second would be a pitch shot that actually checks up exactly where you want it to.

When you flush that iron shot and you know immediately its pin seeking, you say "Get in the hole" about half way through the ball flight because your confident even though your 125 yards out.  Your buddies scoff and laugh and make a joke about your arrogance, then you hear the sweet sound of a ball striking the flag and your buddies remark "wow" under their breath and bow their head and carry on to the green.  No more words are exchanged about that shot until the end of the round you recall that moment over beers. (True story from last weekend!)

Where you can play a close match and everyone is happy because it's fun and competitive.

You see the shot in your head, you picture the swing, impact, flight, and land. Then you hit it, just like you pictured it. Maybe picture it closer next time, but still.

Today, chip-in holed from about 30-40yd over a hill and a really nice curved roll on the green of the 18th. Perfect way to end out a round

My best feeling in golf happened on a long par 3 with a 3 iron. The swing was so effortless, the flushed shot sensation was so pure I can still remember it over 10 years later.

Breaking 80 in April. I usually break 80 once a season in July or August every year, this year I got it out of way early lol. We did get a golf simulator setup this winter, it is already paying off.

One of my playing partners enjoys what I guess is a certain kind of gamesmanship - constantly "rooting" for my ball to "go," "check," "hang-on," "TURN!" or whatever, regardless of what what help (if any) the shot needs.  

 

Very genuine satisfaction hearing him yell "BITE" when I know my wedge is struck well, then watching it tuck in close to the pin, or land in the fairway after he cries "fore!" on a dogleg.

Making a long putt you normally would not expect to make or holing out a sand shot or chip.

 

Why? because it is worth a whole stroke.

 

Sure, a pure iron, or crushed drive, are great but, they don't necessarily improve your score in and of themselves.

 

If you hole a shot you were not necessarily expecting to hole, that affects your score directly, and can also affect your opponent's mindset, directly.

A couple weeks ago I dropped a 4 iron to 10 feet from 225. I have to say, big drives are nice but that really made me feel like I was showing my stuff.
