Worst Golf Gifts

I thought all the gifts mentioned are pretty neat. At least someone was thinking about you and your love for golf...plus it’s the thought that counts. I’d donate or give them away instead of throwing them in the trash. Someone would get some use out of them.

I was in a cigar exchange at Halloween, guys usually throw in extra stuff and the person who got me threw in a pack of Brush Tees. I honestly got a good laugh because I remember when I was younger buying these to "get more distance off the tee". I might play them for a laugh one day or re-gift them as a joke to someone else.

I don't use brush tees but I'd have no issue using them since they are near indestructible and hard to lose. Yeah the distance thing is silly.

Was more just a laugh at younger me thinking of how much these will help. But I remember actually breaking one and they were sometimes a pain to get into the ground level cause you can't really push down on them like a normal shaped tee.

Pretty much any golf gift from family or a non golfer friend is useless junk. It doesn’t need to be thrown away though - you can burn most of this shi.....

Wife got my this during thanksgiving.. she was so excited lol. 
 

that leather thing holds 4 golf balls on your belt like a holster and the Guinness thing goes on the driver head. 
 

I was like “yay, thank you so much”, put it on the counter and it sat there for 4 days. she got really angry why it didn’t disappear into thin air like all my other golf stuff that comes in the mail. 
 

I said I was saving it

1) the potty putting green

2) a miniature golf hole for a desk

3) golf bbq set

4) the golf bag nuts sack

5) and last but not least...this beret hat

I think ppl need to be aware unless your buying a club or pack of premium balls or paying for a round for someone... its not that great of a golf gift lol although theyre are only a few other option that are nice... most are just wierd and generic.

Agreed. UNLESS that non-golfer enlists the help of an avid golfer who is friends with the intended recipient. I've lent my expertise to a few people over the years. Most recently, last year when a group of co-workers came to me asking what type of golf balls should they get for their boss.

 

Pro-V's of course. It's good thing they asked me because they were going to go with a 30-pack of Top Flites

ProV1x's - I mean really, I used to play them but Titleist turned them into the V1 - wtf, keep up people! And a merino sweater? Come on - those are skinny shadows of themselves, beef up with a little cashmere! And make sure those bar glasses are cut crystal!

No golf gift I've ever received was too corny or low rent for me. I either use them or keep them as a memento. And that includes every sleeve of balls my daughter has ever bought at Dick's  from the impulse end cap display, ha.

 

I did get my wife a golf cap last year from Spencer's as an impulse joke gift.

Titleist like script but it spelled something else. Wrapped it haphazardly and videoed her opening it and omg we all fell down laughing as she proudly held it up for all to see.

 

Took her a minute.

That was the very worst and yet the very best.

I told my family a few years back that they didn’t have to get me golf gifts or gifts with my college’s logo on it anymore, because what I wanted would be too specific and that would be unfair to them. I told them that instead they could just use that money they would have spent on me and buy something for someone who needed it more. 
 

They’ve mostly listened...they still get me a gift but avoid the items above. And if they do get me golf gifts it is ProV1s. 
 

I got some doozies over the years lol. And now for some reason my wife thinks I like those brainteaser puzzles, so she will get me 2 or 3 of those every year. Maybe she’s trying to tell me something...

My folks usually throw me a gift card for the local golf shop as I've told them in the past I prefer that over GolfTown. Other than that I don't have anyone else buying me gifts... Some of ya need to appreciate that your surrounded with people who care for you.

 HAHAHA. I just threw mine out a couple of weeks ago. Parents got if for me about 15 years ago. Never once did it get used on a golf course.

Son bought me a sleeve of I❤️DAD balls in a cheap plastic case.  They proudly sit on top of my beer fridge in the garage next to a couple of old trophies.  He asks me from time to time why I haven’t played them.  I simply tell him I’m not good enough yet to not lose them.  Makes him smile and think.  Yeah, I love those stupid balls.

Still got my optical range finder. Got it from my Dad. It has a pretty good magnification, so I sometime use it to scope out the fairway and green ahead. (I usually don't use/carry a laser rangerfinder)
