Haywood Golf New MB

Recommended Posts

I was reading @RyanBarathWRXs article about Haywood golfs new MB. It looks absolutely fantastic!! Very Rickie Rev33 iron looking to me. I love the milled look.

I had a thought though. I am not sure I willing to pay $195 for a DTC brand iron. At that price you are at the top end of most OEM irons that are equally as nice looking and are more readily available to try out.

This seems a high hurdle for companies to jump over.. Would you be willing to take the plunge on an iron from a DTC brand that was this price?

I play Haywood irons and wedges, I really like them. But that is steep for an iron.

They look pretty sweet, from the pictures it looks like it has some sort of Vsole-ish grind?

They really need to tone down the offset. I also hate to say it but I wish the stock lofts on the blades were stronger, strictly so I could bend weak to add bounce and reduce offset. Their signature MB looks worse than most GI irons to me. I opt for blades because I hate offset.

I watched the Heywood live stream last night on Instagram, he confirmed it is a V sole style grind.

Those are pretty sweet to be honest. $1200 for 5-w... hmm not great but not terrible. Wonder what shaft options they have.

I wondered that as well. They are supposedly fully custom.. I wonder what that means. I think they look great. Not sure I could take the plunge on these though..

That is a considerable price jump as their signature irons can be bought for as little as 700cad for a 5-pw config. (548$ usd)  1200usd for a set of these (1530$ cad) I understand this is a milled from a forged block solid head blade versus their sig which is a hollow headed iron. But like you mentioned, high for a DTC brand..... Sub70s milled head MB set is quite a bit more affordable at 510$ usd for 5-pw.

Personally, for me that's too high.  I have no doubt the quality, just too much for a DTC.  I'd totally give Sub70 a shot at the price points they offer however.

The Sub 70s are not fully milled. The only other fully milled irons are the PXG ST, the Seven irons from TSG and some Modart irons. You are looking at 3k+ for any of these sets.

K, so there just eye candy for people who have the money to spend. Cause a milled hosel has zero advantage over one that's been shaped on a grinding wheel... other than bling factor.

FYI I wasn't aware of the existence of TSG, or Modart.

You sound like you would be a good fit for the Arias irons.  Or maybe the black dot Revolutions from the late 90s.

I may have posted that to you in the past.  🙂

They are nice looking irons.  I priced out a set 3-pw Dynamic gold, and GP MCC grips 2* upright and 2* weak, +1"...came up to $949.

That is not to bad for what looks like a quality iron

I don’t see them on their website. Only iron sets you can price out are their signature irons which are player distance irons and their signature MB irons which are not the ones mentioned here.

If you draw the line from the shaft, it's pretty dead on. You align to the lead edge of the shaft, or the hosel?

Those are way good looking! Great head shape and perfect amount of offset for my eye. Full milled 1020 carbon blade...sounds like a good deal compared to the RF Cobras. Love the satin look as well. I’d buy them sight unseen if I wasn’t in love with my ZForged irons. To me they have MacGregor type offset, which I was a VIP/Vfoil guy for many years.
