Are the black ones "OEM" grips.  I was told by a Lamkin rep the black Taylormade UTx grips that were stock on P790s were a "cordless" version of the UTx.

Nope, they're the real ones, they have some level of cord you can see/feel.  I had some solid red ones too that are kind of in the same boat, its very odd.  These are my absolute favorite grips ever and I buy them in bulk when I can find some on eBay (I probably have 40-50 of them in my garage, and probably another 30-40 I could pull off of random shafts and stuff I have sitting around).  I might just try to take some 100 grit to them really soft just to expose some of the cord in them.

I am a huge UTx fan as well.  BTW -- there are some OEM Cobra ones on eBay now sold in groups of 13 for $50 shipped.  Good deal.  They do seem to be legit with cord (I can see it in the photos).  I ordered a batch and well let you know how they arrive.

@RobYakes I agree with all of that on the 360 genesis cord.

I picked up a few via eBay that were the TM MG2 red version. I typically like something firmer, but I've been impressed by them. Soft feel with plenty of traction. I'm holding out hope that Lamkin will bring them out in midsize though, as I feel like they are fairly skinny (unless this was just the MG2 version?)

Just got to the eBay grips!  They look new, but do seem to have less exposed 15F3FE90-8E6C-4128-BD82-34CA350364E8.jpeg.fa375f8a75b5c625cdd05e4af14ebb6c.jpegcord visible. Here are some pics with the Cobra OE UTx and a retail grip.

Any idea if we will get any kind of "upgrade with lamkin" type promo like we had for 2020? I really liked it last year and it let me try a couple of grips I might not have otherwise tried.

I'm set on switching to the ST+2 this year (have been trying it, the calibrate version and the Sonar+ wrap) with the new 360 version on my adjustable clubs (woods and hybrid) but I certainly wouldn't mind being able to get a couple of them for free since I haven't seen any other good discounts around yet and I would have thought that we would be getting the new season regrip promos by now?

Yes, Lamkin is going to extend the Upgrade program into 2021. I would guess you will begin to see some ads pertaining to that starting beginning of March, as that is when the 2021 products will be arriving with distributors. You won’t be disappointed with the ST+2.   It is a exceptional performer!  Lamkin keeps impressing year after year!

Excited for March then. Is the ST+2, 2 wraps at the bottom? How is softness/tackiness compared to Sonar s?

My understanding is the +2 is supposed to simulate two extra wraps, that is what it probably feel like to me (noticeably more than a standard grip but also clearly not as thick as a MCC+4).

I’d say the lower hand feels very similar to the Sonar S, maybe slightly softer but I think that is because they are just a bit thicker lower hand (but not as thick/squishy as a MCC+4). Upper hand is a bit firmer, but it isn’t nearly as harsh as the corded upper on the MCC+4.

Personally I really like the ST+2 grip (coming from MCC+4 and Tour Velvet before that). Kind of like a “milder” version of the MCC+4. Has some buildup and taper compared to a traditional and some extra grip in the upper hand but not too much of either.

Does anyone have an issue with their UTX grips where some versions of the grip don't seem to have near as much cord exposed as the other ones?  I have some red ones, black ones, and the blue distressed ones and for the life of me, the black and red ones seems more slick than the distressed blue ones.  The blue ones have the most exposed cord from what I can see.  Been debating about just taking some sand paper to it just to rough them up.  Sorry, little off topic...

My favorite UTX were the distressed blue and the Srixon solid red that came on the 745/945 series. All others seemed subpar. The Srixon red grips were unreal. They were .60R, when all other lamkin utx are .58R. They were like velcro and lasted forever. They would get super tacky again with a good scrubbing, even after a couple seasons. I only cut them off after 3 seasons after wanting a thicker bottom hand(Still going strong, but unsavable). The original distressed blue were close, but wore a little quicker. It seems like the grip has progressively gotten less aggressive which is unfortunate.

Distressed blue were the first UTX I tried and I loved them. When it came time to replace a couple they were discontinued and hard to find so I tried regular blue and regular red. Those seemed thinner with less cord. I think UTX benefit from some build-up tape. Makes the cord pop a little.

Thats a good idea, I was going to put a wrap of Gorilla tape under them on my next install, hopefully that helps pop it out al ittle bit.

I guess the ST+2 Hybrid 360 is coming out in March then. Been looking around for it. I got the regular ST+2 Hybrid because it's the stock grip on the Mizuno 921 HM Pros. I didn't like the MCC+4 because I felt it was too thick on the bottom. I like the +2. It definitely much softer than the MCC, so far so good. Going to get my woods changed out with the 360 and my wedges too.

The +2 shape on the ST is perfect. Found the grip too soft for my taste, but the taper is ideal. I now put +2 wraps of grip tape on the lower hand with GP TV Align and I like it a lot.

Definitely, softer than the MCC, that's why I prefer it. I'm pretty neutral on grips. I don't mind using Karma grips that go for $1.50. I'm only matching up the grips to what came stock on the Mizunos...haha... once they wear out, probably will use the Karma black or neon grips, can't beat under $2 self installed.

Has anyone compared the golf pride z grips vs the lampkin cross line grips? If so what’s your thoughts? Looks to be pretty similar.

These two are a close comparison in many ways and I'd argue that if you like one, you will like the other at least to some extent. They are almost interchangeable IMO.

Crossline cords are slightly, slightly softer (still firm). They have a little less taper and are thicker overall being .58R. You can feel the cord a bit more on the surface with crosslines. Independent of the cord, they both have good texture, but Z-grip probably has a slight edge.

I've played both and like both. I lean toward the Crossline because they are slightly softer and I find it easier to dial in the size I want.

I don't like the Golf Pride Z grips at all, and really like the Crossline grips, both cord and the regular version.  The Crossline grips last longer to me and last longer, and I just like the way the Crossline feels in my hand.

Really helpful thanks! I’ve been playing crosslines for the past 10 years. I tried the Golfpride MCC to see, since they are so hyped. I went back to the crossline and happy I did.

Thanks for the reply. I did notice the same thing. The crosslines are extremely durable especially compared to my experience with Golfpride

I think the MCC is a good grip, but their lifespan is a letdown if you play often (even with washing them regularly).

Do you play the regular Crossline or the cord version?

Yeah that was my experience as well. I play the regular crossline midsize grip. Haven’t tried the cord version.
