College recruiting questionaire

do coaches even look at them?  I assume the info gets stored away into their database

they ask a lot of questions, and some of them quite personal; do you have to answer them all?

Yes and no.  The information gets forwarded and your child's file is started.

Usually someone in the athletic dept looks at them and then forwards them to an asst. coach./inter  or the head coach.  This will depend on the size of the program and school.

A small D3 school isn't the same as you know as Alabama Football.

My son has had coaches find him via his recruiting profiles.  At some point they always ask for him to fill it out.  This gets everyone within the college on the same page.  Admissions / Athletics etc.

He has filled out some for schools he was interested in and then the school reached out.

If your son or daughter is a 2025 - 2023.  I would cast the net wide  50-75 schools.  Have him or her develop a list of answers to all the questions.  They basically all ask the same thing.

Fill out 5-10 a week.  KEEP a trackers of who and when they filled it out.

Ensure the athlete is doing this.  If you tell yourself its to much them.  Then probably playing college sports is to much.

Example:  Wake Forest Questionnaire 12/15/2020

We used something like this:

Name Division Email sent   Coach name Number email State Questionnaire Date
Belmont University 1 Yes   Scott Flynn 615-460-8239 [email protected] Tenn Yes 08/01/19

Helpful, thanks

Some of the questions are things that are expected to fluctuate over time (standardized test scores, gpa, best tournament score, handicap, even height/weight).  Is there a way to resubmit the questionaire many months later, when things have inevitably changed (hopefully for the better)?

Yes, think of it as a standard business query form.  I would def. update it at the end of a year or as major items take place.

Once my son took his ACT and SAT and got an update transaction he updated.

He always had handy their favorite questions.  Example

List your top 5 finishes of the season.

This is where they want to be detail but dont over do it.  If he/she played in the same event the previous years and finished top 40.  They should highlight it.

Example:

1. Top 5 finish

ABCD Tour Championship @ PENN STATE

36 Hole event

PENN State Golf Club Blue Course State College, PA

Par 72 73.5 / 139 6956 Yards

Day 1 ? / Day 2 ?

2.

3.

4.

5.

If they answer the questions and save them to a file.  Then its just  a matter of copy and paste.

If sending to a program.  I would follow up with an intro email a couple of days later telling them that you filled out the form.
