Blade look with a little more forgiveness

I'm still playing my Apex Pros from 2014, haven't found anything much better (yet)

Other than the finish durability ( which didn't matter to me) those are great sticks. I think Kisner is still playing them.

ZX7 is likely a great option, but spin much less than the true blades out there.

AP2/T100 line spin more and look like a blade from address.

I had the FG Tour V2 and V4 Wilson’s. Great sticks. Look like the AP2 (I had the 718s) at address, but the sole of the V4s is more cambered/rounded and the AP2 (and the t100...) have much more of a thin blade like sole profile with a preworn leading edge. The AP2s were also just a tad softer.

All that said, I wasn’t kidding about the PXG 0311 Ts... the have the more square toe of a blade, and the sole is thin. Very little offset, in fact there is no offset at all really from 8-PW.

Had mizzy HMBs. Great sticks but played far more like a hollow body iron than my PXGs now. Meaning the PXGs are both softer and give me more consistent launch and spin numbers (especially on a thin miss). If you can throw down the coin, I’d get the PXGs. The gen2 (I have) are fantastic and now 149 per club. The Gen3s are supposed to be the best feeling club ever and 249 a club. The 0311t line is 100% tour validated; both PGA and LPGA players gaming. They aren’t a players distance iron, just blade look with a hell of a lot of tech packed in

I know it sounds a little nuts and they are expensive but they do come up in the classifieds every once in a while but the Miura 501's are MB with a solid amount of forgiveness and a wider sole. Quit forgiving but you would be in the single digits in terms of handicap.

Incredible irons.

I just snagged a set of the zero offset ones that you’ve got 🤩

The visual stimulus you get from your clubs is very important.  Some people get confidence from clubs that look like frying pans.  Some like to think of their clubs as precise instruments like scalpels.

There is a case that clubs with higher MOI might deliver a better result.  How much better, if better at all, depends on so many factors that the matter is imponderable.  Most people play so poorly (slice horrendously) that the possible improvement makes no real difference.

Is a club that gives you a good result from a bad effort (if such a thing exists) really your friend?

Although I totally agree with you for the most part. I'd say a club that gives you a better result than you deserve is definitely your friend if you're a person who plays twice a month and never practices.

I’m looking at the Cobra forged tec right now....hoping to get out to test tomm.

UPDATE: Not a full test...only had the 7 iron...but it was meh. Feel was not as soft as I expected. Will give it another go this week.

Went the completely opposite way and pulled the trigger on some Mizuno hot metal pros....no need to fight the forgiveness for me and my no practicing self.

The P7MC from the reviews I have watched is the winner for forged blade like forgiving iron.

I second this.... and third and fifteenth... hands down... im biased because they are the irons i play. Cant stop telling ppl about these... Gi iron in a players profile. Perfect for me and anyone who likes that look but needs a touch of help. You can hit them dead straight or work them any way youd like. Distances are accurate. Find your shaft and play golf without worrying

What did you try before going with mmc?  I'm interested in mmc, but was thinking of combo the 5 and 4 with hmb for a little more speed and height.   Thoughts?

I think these are great clubs, but they are seriously big.  Don't think they fit the "look like a blade" requirement.

So i mostly played medium gi irons not sgi...i tryed apex pros which finished second best to me but the forgivness and softness through out the set of mmc really stuck out to me. My brother has hmb and while they are slightly more forgiving the feel is not as good as mmc and its not enough imo to combo. I have no problem with the 4 or 5 iron in mmc but if you wanted extra whatever i would go hmb to ease your mind. Ive hit the 4 and 5 plenty high enough to land and stop even on quick greens. Distances havent dropped either. Ive hit way toey shot reached the green just below pin high. Ive slightly chunked a 7 iron to 3 feet which was mind blowing lol they are an ultimate iron in my mind. Not blade punishing at all

Lots of great irons out there who would fit the bill. Personally I prefer the wilson staff fg tour v6, great feel and forgiveness in a superb and compact iron. Thin topline with blade look from behind the ball.

This season I picked up an old set of Titleist 690 MBs. They were fun to hit at the start but just not forgiving enough for me. The thing is, I really love the look so not sure what set of irons to get. I like the look of the Taylormade  P7MC but they are a little pricey. My friend recommended the Titleist AP3 718 as they have the small profile but are a little cheaper. Does anyone have any suggestions for irons with the blade look but a little more forgiveness.

I’m on a bit of a soap box about this given my own recent experience, but try putting an r300 shaft in one of those 690 heads.  A “user friendly” shaft can be a godsend for someone who likes blades but wants an easier time playing them.  Might not work for you, but you might be surprised.

I just got done testing irons today.  P770 blew me away.  Its on order already.  They felt great launched a bit higher, tight dispersion, and more ball speed

I hit the jpx tours and mmc and they both felt great, but results were not as good.  Also hit t100 and disnt like it at all.

Give the p770 a chance, you won't be disappointed.

If 818 AP3 look is acceptable, look no further than the Ping i210. If you want to keep it compact, try T100, MP20 MMC, or even MP20 HMB.

For me, i210 beat them all, and I think they still look compact at address.

Can't say enough about the two sets I rotate in Sig - T100 & P760!

The Titleist have a thinner topline, while the Taylormade is shorter heel to toe.

Both are appealing and feel friendly after playing several MB full-forged sets from 2008-2019 from Wilson Staff, Callaway, Mizuno, & Honma.  Those were nice to game, but I needed graphite shaft at around 110g and some more tech w/o drifting so far off these past sets.

I would seriously consider the newer TM P770 lines now.  Shaft feel puts it all together.

Maxfli Revolution Black Dots.

I have the Black Dots and cut them down for my son to use (from +2" to standard length).  I gave them a swing a few days ago and forgot how great they felt...and I've been playing MIzuno since '03.

MP20 MB’s are surprisingly forgiving. I think they’re going to gain a bit of a cult following as more people try them. Typical Mizuno feel.

Exactly, the MP20's meet the OP's criteria.

They are blades, so you have the look,

They are forgiving, you won't look like a hack

Definitely, worth the time to try these out.
