Covid shutdowns?

I read last week that San Francisco area is allowing outdoor activities and i am wondering if there are any area's in California where courses aren't operating?  I am also wondering if your course is still doing dumb things like raised cups or other things that ruin golf.

If a raised cup or foam filler is ruining your experience, I suggest you go cry on reddit about it and find a safe place with like minded people expressing their feelings. You gonna be ok-ski?

Foam filler is fine. Raised cup is only accepted by hacks.

any updates on monterey area? trying to book a scramble at pebble with my wife in march but she loves hanging out in monterey. We got any locals that understand the situation? no politics. Just wanted to know if it's fine to wine/dine outside of the resort.  thanks.

It appears that Pebble Beach resort itself is largely operational albeit with outside and to-go dining.  See their latest COVID-19 update for more.

 

Many restaurants in the Bay Area are allowing limited indoor seating (San Mateo County for me), so I suspect Monterey County is or will be in a similar state, meaning there's a decent chance that you can get food and drink outside of the resort in Monterey or Carmel.

 

I'm having dinner in the area with a friend tomorrow and will report back if things are mostly closed--for now, Open Table is letting reservations be made, which is a good sign.

I talked to someone that I know that works for Pebble and he told me that tomorrow Weds. 3/17 St. Patrick's Day Monterey County will move into the Red tier which will allow a certain percentage of indoor dining and when my wife and I were down there at the end of Feb. there were a lot of restaurants on the Monterey Peninsula that offered outdoor dining as well.

Played Poppy Hills on Wednesday and Spanish Bay on Thursday.
 

The Bench at Pebble and Roy’s at SB had both indoor and outdoor seating available, at about 40% capacity indoors and pretty good spacing outside.

 

Porter’s at Poppy Hills had five or six tables inside and about that many on the deck.

 

On that topic, I think the food at Porter’s is very good and underrated. Each time I eat there I come away impressed.

 

Schooner’s in Monterey had a lot of seating outdoor under a tent with heaters; nothing indoors that I saw, but the outside seating was probably 12+ tables.

At all places one could remove one’s mask after sitting down.  All staff wore masks at all times.

 

Overall, it looks like the Monterey County restaurants are able to get back to (guessing) 50% or more capacity which I hope means they will survive until we all get vaccinated.
