Simple sim suggestions

Looking to set something up in my garage, clueless as to what is available.

Not looking for a projector and screen setup.  What I have in my head is some sort of launch monitor unit that can connect to a phone or tablet and show just a virtual driving range or something.  Does such an arrangement exist?  What options are out there?

Thanks.

Thats how I got started, an inexpensive net in the garage and a sc200. I mainly just wanted to work on distances. I still use it  some times, any monitor will work till you upgrade. My felling at the time was not to spend more than 500 bucks on the whole thing.  Then if I got bored with it I didn't have at lot of doe invested. But as it turned out I was hitting a few hundred balls about 3-4 times a week.

So now I've got the whole nine yards.......😎

If you live in a temperate climate, and have several months without golf, you'll never regret a full simulator. That is provided you are financially stable enough to float a few thousand dollars at it. Best money I've ever spent.

Second that - if you have the space, its pretty awesome and a great way to pass the winter.

I have a garage Skytrak setup and couldn't be happier.  Started with an Optishot briefly to get rolling, found a used Net Return Home setup on FB Marketplace.  Upgraded to Skytrak few months later when I found a reasonably priced used one.  Added TGC 2019 and love playing rounds online, with friends, or in Society tournaments.

ES14 vote here got mine on the bay for $300,  the ESB1 is the newer version is $550.

Connects via bluetooth, I have my TV setup with apple TV, screen mirror and I got a super cheap indoor setup.

the Net cost me $19.99 on the bay,  bought 1" PVC for the frame, 6'X5' ($20)

used an old heavy blanket, and some hanging material.

The Mevo+ is $2,500 and on back order, buddy ordered his February 2020 didnt get it till June,

Jumped on the bay and got a used ES14 in 3 days. (meh *shrugs shoulders*)

Catch 22;

1) ES14 setups up 14" forward and 14" right of a right handed golfer, so if you are scared of shanks that ES14 unit is in the danger zone

2) ESB1 setups behind like many of the new systems

Ernest sports app have a Driving range feature, BUT it lacks actual dispersion left and right it does NOT show left and right shots.  But for me I wanted 3 important data points,  Ball speed,  Launch angle and Spin.

the $500 equivalent units Mevo (non plus) and SC300 are nearly all the same, but have its one or 2 drawbacks, so is really preference.

If you want something that is going to help you improve I would shoot for either a skytrak or mevo+. The other lower cost options don't show spin axis or shot shape so all you can realistically get out of them is ball speed and distance. Hitting into a net without any feedback on shot shape is a good way to ingrain some bad habits. Unfortunately now isn't a great time to buy anything because of the increased demand and inflated prices. If you're only using an ipad for display, both the mevo+ and skytrak have apps you can use, but the mevo+ also has a few sim golf courses included. With the mevo+ you will need at least 15' of space. With the skytrak all you need is room to swing a club and you should be good. They both have their advantages and disadvantages but coming from nothing you'll be pretty happy with either one I would think.

Same here. Went sc100 to sc300 to skytrak. Big jump but worth it if u want actual ball flight.
