As expected, both Ariya and Moriya Jutanugarn have entered the field of Kia Tournament.

The tournament winner will get a ton of Rolex points, but a paltry check of $270,000.

Well at least that will cover the airfare across the pacific and a few more trips.

It feels like a heavyweight fight today.  One round is done, but the results are unclear.

It's very early in the season, but Nelly Korda is looking good.  On the other hand, Maria Fassi showed a lot of promise with four biridies, but shot a +7.

She killed it with the driver today 272yd, 5/14 fairways. Bombs away Maria!

I'm representing @ChronicSlicer, he didn't enter the contest because he's going to pick the same group of players.

Relax, it's a marathon and we've just completed the first mile.  You may still beat me by 500 points at the end of the day.

Two of our picks, Nelly Korda and Jennifer Kupcho share lead after one round.

I thought long and hard about selecting Jennifer Kupcho for my "roster" ... then I wound up selecting Jeoneung Lee instead.  Or was Jennifer in the same category as Nelly ... if so, it was Nelly that I chose.

It's either Nelly or Jennifer; you've made the right choice thus far.

Jennifer Kupcho was in the same category as Nelly.  I remember because I really would have liked to take Jennifer, but just couldn’t leave Nelly off the “team”.  (I’ve been following Jennifer’s progress since being impressed by her at a collegiate tournament on Hilton Head, and of course the way she played the back 9 at Augusta!)

(Just reread 18major’s reply and see that he had already answered the question 🤪).

That's okay.  It's nice to have someone else share the info.  I was in the same category as you in terms of Nelly or Jennifer.   I have been very impressed with Jennifer's play over the past 8-10 months ... especially after she went back to her irons that she used in college and at the ANWA.

Congratulations to @Supermilo and @jumpcut,  So Yeon Ryu has entered the Kia field.

It's bittersweet. The Perfect Woman (according to JTBC Golf magazine) pushed Malaysia's Golf Darling (according to ParGolf magazine) out of the field. KT is now sitting at 145 in a 144-person field.

Don't worry!

They have two holding spots reserving for Top-10's from Drive On but all current Top-10's are already in the field.  They'll release those spots to Kelly Tan if they're still available.

Kelly's only danger is both Su Hyun Oh and Jessica Korda sign up at the last second.

Nelly, Brooke and Yealimi have one of their worst days in recent memory, but golf is golf.

Fortunately, Jennifer Kupcho keeps our winning streak alive!

We all must have been prescient the other day  when we were chatting about Jennifer as one of the picks being deliberated in the 11+ range.   Personally, I'm hoping she wins.  She has been quietly going about her business.   I think Patty is just too far back.  Though it will be nice to see her get on track!  I'd be winning the ROY challenge! 🤷‍♂️

Thanks, I've made a mistake.  I added Week 1 Diamond Resorts results twice.

All scores have been corrected, including @agolf1, @BadgerLin , @Argonne69 , @Lobby , @Stooch , @Golf Dino and @18majors.

Additionally, scores have also been corrected for the four players who played Week 1.

@Supermilo , @jumpcut

Su Hyun Oh signed up to play Kia bumping Kelly Tan to #1 alternate.

However, Kelly is still in good position; since there're two holding places that eventually will be released to alternate list.  Currently, the only players that can possibly bump Kelly are Jessica Korda and Yui Kawamoto.

Hope to see Kelly in the field!  It's better for her to play one tournament before ANA the next week.

LPGA Tour started in the US but it's been an international tour since the dawn of 1990's.  1991 was the last year Americans won the first four tournaments of the year.  In fact, they won the first five.

I foresaw the resurgence of Americans since Nelly Korda was a rookie in 2017, but it hasn't panned out.  I hope this is the year it'll play out that way.

In two more weeks, Americans have a chance to win the first four tournaments of the year, and to keep that streak going.
