Golfing in Cancun

Has anyone played golf in Cancun? If you have where would you recommend?

Got back a few weeks ago. Only played Playa Mujeres. From what I’ve heard it’s one of the better courses there but I thought it was just ok. Course condition was ok. Staff was nice but amenities/clubhouse/pro shop was not good. Wasn’t my type of course, if you miss the fairway your ball is gone. We stayed at Dreams which is part of the course so it was approx $90 per round.  I believe it was $200 if you stay off property. Definitely would not pay that. I had 3 tee times but only played twice, wasn’t that fun of a course especially playing alone so I skipped my last time. They did say that I could book as many times as I liked and if I didn’t show it was no charge, which was nice.  Also they never picked me up from the resort like they were supposed to. First time the concierge messed up and second time they arrived and left 15 minutes before my pick up time. Both times the resort workers ran me to the course might keep that in mind. Getting back to the resort was no problem though.

Ended up playing 2 rounds. 1 at playa mujeras and other at puerto Cancun. Both around the same total price with factoring in taxi. 
 

condition at playa mujeras was better overall. Greens were pretty slow though. No views of anything. Just lined jungle. Pace of play was about 3 hours 15 mins for a twosome. 
 

puerto Cancun had nicer views of the waterways and some nice boats on them. Course felt like it was more open. Conditions were good but not as good as playa mujeras. Greens much faster here. Pace of play was about 3 hours 30 mins. 
 

overall good experience but still doesn’t touch Cabo in golf. Obviously.

Anyone else have any thoughts on Golf courses and recommendations in Cancun or other parts of Mexico?

 

Planning a trip in late March and trying to decide if I'll be able to get some Golf in on the trip or not. All the courses I've found so far don't have prices posted on the website, which is unheard of in Canada and leads me to believe either the courses are very overpriced or they're on some type of sliding scale based on what they can get away with charging?

 

Already would be spending lots of money on the All-inclusive resort, hotels etc, so have to decide if it's worth paying expensive Green fees and airline charges for transporting my clubs?
