Basement project is now complete!

Started with an idea then iterations of measurements and change in execution plans, hours and hours of waiting for parts to arrive, my custom build is now complete and I thought I'd share here.

 

[Started mapping out hitting zone/landing turf]
 

 

[Building protection for the walkout window/not to completely block daylight]

 

[Locating base frame for impact screen]

 

[installing custom dual panel impact screen]

 

[Ceiling protection]

Between 2 inch acoustic panels and insulation foams, I went with simple route of just installing mesh tarp: 
Sunnydaze 8-Foot x 10-Foot Mesh Tarp, Multi-Purpose UV-Resistant Black High-Density Polyethylene - - Amazon.com

 

 

 

After few other custom touch for front/back panels and side walls, here is the final outcome.

Going to do something similar in April in the room above my garage

 

Will be different as it is an A-frame room so it won't fit in a cubby as well as you've done ... but I will make it work

What system did you go with ?

South Korean company called Impact Vision. They have proprietary technology with high speed camera. Little tricky to get the sensor calibrated but it was the best option for ceiling height > 9ft with great deal of accuracy.

Looks great. Can I ask a few other dimension questions? How wide is the room? And how much room between the screen and the tee? Finally, how far are you extending the ceiling and side protective nets? Thanks!

Turned out great!  How often do you find yourself using it?  Not heard of Impact Vision, does it allow you to play courses too or just driving range?

If I tried to hit fade I normally hit, I would definitely hit it.

It sorta L shaped room and 27’ * 11’ is where I positioned it. There is about 2’ from the impact screen to the back wall behind and 12’ from the screen to the tee.

 Plenty of room for people to sit and watch while someone swings.

I left 7~8 inches on each side and about foot between the net and the ceiling.

Im prepping the diagram so I will share that once ready.

This is pretty much what my family do most of the day now due to Covid situation.

Program is built with approximately 50 courses(many HD quality real courses in S.Korea) and prenty of practice modes.

If you're tall or really steep you might have an issue under 9', but it's also for comfort.

 

Indoor swing can sometimes be strange if you feel as though you don't have enough room to move freely. Often people develop weird, flat swings that differ from their normal shots on the course and it makes it frustrating to switch between the two.

 

I'm 5'10" with standard club lengths and I can comfortably swing up to 5i in my 7'8" basement. The garage is 12' though so the sim is out there.

I was able to swing my 3 wood choked down about 2 inches with no problems. I don’t want to be like Rick Shiels who I heard broke his driver in his indoor sim at his house.

My simulator room only has a 7' ceiling and I can swing driver. Granted I am only 5'6", but it works. I guess it also depends on your swing. Perhaps my swing is relatively flat compared to others.

just saw this…and yes, the machine automatically feeds the balls to the tee on a touch of the black switch.
