Buy a Ventus w/ Velocore not a new driver

Nick_E

Recommended Posts

I splurged and took the leap and bought a ventus for my g410 lst.  I bought a ventus blue 6x, tipped .25 playing at 46.5.

Update:  it is a ventus with Velocore, not an oem Ventus.  Velacore is the key difference.  A regular oem Ventus are not even the same shaft.  Too bad they allowed the name to be used.

Hit it for the first time today.  Just wow!!!  I've heard the buzz, and didn't know if it would live up to it but it did that and more.

The extra length took a few swing to get used to, but the shaft just delivers the club every time.  I never felt so confident swinging a driver.  Its not the driver head either as I've tried 2 other shafts and they weren't even close.

Loved the ball flight and the shaft felt lively but still very controllable.

If you're think about Ventus do it.  Its the best money I've ever spent in golf.

If you're looking to buy a new driver Id say find a year or two older model, like the g410 lst, and just buy the head.  Then get yourself a ventus.   It'll be about the cost of a new driver but in my opinion a way better option.

Going to put in on qcquad to see numbers, but expect to see tighter dispersion and ball speed.

Also Will Peoples golf does a great job and would highly recommend for the Ventus.

I hit the Ventus Blue and Red earlier this year with the TM SIM. For me, the launch was too low and no matter what I tried I just couldn't make it work. I know there are a lot of success stories with the Ventus line so I may be one of the exceptions.

I will agree that Will and his team at The Peoples Clubs are great to work with for sure!

Sounds like some posters are talking about OEM Ventus. OP is clearly talking about Velocore version, which is outstanding. Won’t change your life or your swing, but it’s one of the exotic shafts that’s worth the splurge.

Curious to see how regular plays vs velacore for regular joes...

Technically the Velocore version is the regular version and the only one Fujikura sells to consumers. The non velocore versions are only sold to the OEMs direct. You can get the OEM models second hand from eBay, BST or otherwise though.

They aren’t even the same shaft at all. It’s a shame they even did that/used the graphics etc. The heart of the shaft is the velocore without it it’s just another shaft. Anyways, they are amazing. Nothing but good to say. Best shaft I’ve ever tried and feels very different to anything else as well. So stable but very smooth.

I agree, they could have at least done the typical TM thing and kept the Ventus stripes under the grip and make the rest of the shaft silver, like they do with the Made For Tensei.....

I updated thread to say with velacore.  I played the ping tour 75x first and then the aldila xtorsion copper 70 tx.  My launch is now higher, feel is better, and dispersion.  I cant speak to ball speed yet as I haven't hit it with qcquad yet.

My swing speed is around 108 to 111, but I've slowed down last few months so around 106 right this moment.  Transition is moderate, not aggressive.

If you listen to the txg you tube on ventus they'll say even people with slower speeds would benefit.

Below is an example of adding the real ventus with velacore to Titleist TSi3.  Extra 345. You're now looking at 900 for the combo.  I bought g410 lst head for 230 and the shaft for special total of 300, so my all in is 530.  This just hits on my main point.

It may not be for everyone.  Did you hit the model with velacore?  I have a low launch issue as well which is why I got the blue and I'm launching this higher than my previous ping and xtorsion-copper shafts.

Wow, that's freaking expensive, most can pick it up after market from a rep Fujikura dealer and save instead of getting it from Titleis AND also upgrade to a Black velocore as well for more lower launch and spin that the Black offers.

I got the Speedzone Pars & Stripes that came with the Blue Velocore but it now has the Black and this driver is just SINGING. I may well put the Blue Velocore into my backup driver, the Epic Flash SZ. I run the Uni-fit system so the shafts can go into any OEM head with the right sleeve.

Prior to this I still love Fujikura's ATMOS Black but they sure did a very nice progression when they introduced the Ventus line with the Velocore. Thus far, Fujikura is the only shaft company I am willing to drop my $$$ into an aftermarket shaft, I just love their shaft 👍

Not with the Velacore. I had Will build me a GD DI to fit my swing speed that has really changed by driver for the better. I play a G410 Plus, and have been looking at the LST, but may wait for the G425 to be released. I will certainly put the Velacore on the short list of shafts to try when I make the switch.

Here is a good video from txg tour experience on YouTube that compares velacore and without Velocore.  One quote, "It's not even the same shaft", talking about Ventua without velacore.  They did say non velacore was one of the best stock shafts.

Also if you don't follow txg tour experience on YouTube you're missing out.

Take a look at my post i just did which includes a comparison of Velacore vs non.  I don't know if you'll get better launch but more consistent strike.

I would just say it's worth a try if you can.

What would you consider a good price?  I got mine out the door at 300, including tax shipping etc.  If cheaper than who?

On the black vs blue i wouldn't consider black better, but a different profile.  I didn't want low launch as an example.   Somw may though.

Agree with you though, shaft is amazing.  Why i started the post as I was blown away with the shaft, and that has never happened.

I have the blue in driver 6x, FW 7x and utility 9x (HB version) and I find them all to be mid-low launching with great feel and consistency. I would caution people about immediately gravitating to the black. If you don't need extreme low launch, that might not be the right match, and you'll be sacrificing feel.

I agree that the ventus velocore is a phenomena of sorts.  I’ve played  the red all last season in a proto version that cpm-Ed out to a strong stiff flex ( was unmarked ).  I just went to a 6x in the red and it’s still great.  But I may have found a better fit with an Accra shaft .  The testing will continue this weekend after this cold front.

im similar to you with a lower launch tendency.  I owned a blue 6x for a few weeks snd have hit the black.  Didn’t care for either really. The black is just too low.  The blue I could play. But I just like the red best.  Like you I noticed titleists upcharge price and it doesn’t fit  what they cost in the wild.  I paid or traded $310 worth of stuff for mine , that’s grip snd 2 degree TM tip included from a life long Fuji dealer.

the thing the ventus does is it puts the face on the ball square.  That’s the best way I can describe it. It returns the head back to a solid strike even in a so so feeling swing.  More than any shaft I’ve hit.

I am feeling validated with my recent pickup of the Ventus Blue/410LST combo. 🙂 Been relegated to indoor sims since getting it but numbers have been fantastic and it's been about as tight as it gets for me dispersion-wise. While I'm excited to try out all the new 2021 drivers - and I absolutely will fully test all of them - I won't be surprised if this combo stays in the bag next year.

Thanks. Yeah, i remember this video and it clearly shows a much tighter dispersion for the high swing player. couldn't remember what it said about the average joe

Love them all. The only one I bought at retail was the HB. The others I found on eBay. Paid in the low-to-mid 200s I believe. With all the buzz, I think prices are actually going up for the popular flexes/weights.

With driver I have both a 6x and 7x and will eventually sell one of them but I can't seem to make up my mind. The 7x is noticeably stouter even at the same flex, and obviously it's heavier. The 6x feels like the bomber shaft, the 7x feels more stable.

The 7x in the fairway woods feels great. It's a very low torque shaft, so, as you know, you're not going to get buttery feel. But the control is excellent. The 7x does not feel light to me in the fairway woods, so I did not go up more in weight. I'm not sure about this, but my theory is that the Velocore adds weight to the tip end of the shaft and produces higher swing weights. That's just my sensation, not sure if it's true. In any case, I think 8x would feel pretty heavy in a FW.

As for the HB, I have it in a Mizuno HMB 2-iron. It's the perfect shaft for that club. No tip trimming (got that advice from Fuji) -- just straight in and then butt trimmed to length. I don't have a lot of data yet with this club, but so far it's a great fit -- nice mid launch and solid kick. Much more testing needed though to be sure I want 2-iron in the bag. It's always a love-hate with that club.

I just ordered a hmb as well, but in 3 iron and plan to bend it 1* steong, but right now in px lz.  I was thinking about switching out if I like the feel of the head.

Let me know how testing goes with it as I might give vebtus hb a look.

I agree with the positive stuff said about the Ventus. I’ve been playing a Pxg Proto driver since July and the stock shaft (Evenflow Riptide Cb) has been “good”...but on a whim I purchased a Ventus Blue 6s to go in it a few weeks back.  Let me just say that this club has now become an automatic weapon for me. I mean, you can still put an ugly swing on it and it be bad, but any have good swing produces time and time again. Dispersion for me has been excellent both side to side and front to back.
