Buy a Ventus w/ Velocore not a new driver

Thinking about this (Ventus Velocore instead of new driver for my purposes). It’s  impossible for me to test where I live in Australia (AFAIK only Cool Clubs has Ventus near me but they only stock the black and I don’t do well with black profiles, too stiff/boardy for me).

Currently playing OG  Sim Max 12 set at 10 degrees with a Rogue Silver 110 MSI stiff flex at 45.75”. I’m not getting the most out of it, seems a bit high and spinny. The other problem is that I hit the a major disaster shot almost every round that I very seldom hit with the 44.5” drivers I used to play.

I’m looking to improve dispersion and significantly reduce disaster shots while not dropping speed/distance. Ball speed is 166/7 swinging out my shoes but typical shots are low 160’s BS. Thinking a 45” Ventus Red 6X or Blue 6X and adding a heavier back weight to the head (194g at the moment). Does this make sense...any suggestions?

Lots of love in here for the blue, but I just really can't quite seem to get it dialed in my SIM. I've played an AD-DI 7X for nearly a decade and the Blue (yes, w/velocore) just feels like a board in comparison.

Have any of you played those two back to back? Any tips on tempo/transition to get the blue to sing??

Willing to give it another run, but otherwise BST here she comes!

Have you hit the black yet? For a “black” profile, its actually pretty smooth. Much smoother than the atmos ts i had. The red is pretty similar to the black, just a softer version of it. Blue is completely different than both of those, you either love it or hate it. I personally didnt like the soft feeling right under the hands.

I haven’t tried any Ventus. My only option to hit the black is Cool Clubs (they don’t have red or blue)  and then it’s $175 for a driver fitting.

I figure that with some help I could make my best guess at which one suits me and if I guess wrong and have to sell it I would still lose less money on it than the $175 fitting. The “blacks” I’ve hit before are Hzrdus (totally not for me) and Evenflow which didn’t work either but that was more of a weight issue. Typically “blue” profiles suit me best (moderate tempo)

I typically go with Blue profiles. In Ventus I like the Red. It does not launch particularly high, definitely not higher than other brands’ mid-launch shafts I’ve played. Have the Red 7S in a fairway. A 6S for driver could definitely be next. Red has a firm handle that I like, but it’s not a boardy feel.

Swing it smooth or go hard and impact is a joy. Usually tend to like Fuji shafts so no surprise it’s good, but Ventus may indeed be their best — feels fast and I am middling it easily. Don’t fear that this shaft hits moon balls. It doesn’t. Easy to hit screamers with it if you want.

Great feedback here. I may have to try the red because the blue - which on paper should be close to the AD-DI in performance feels wayyyy lower launch.

Following up here - I've been testing my setup (410LST, 9, Ventus Blue Velocore 6S) over the winter and put that against TSi3, Sim 2, Ping 425 (Max, not LST, to be fair, as I don't want to drop spin any more) and Epic Max LS. Only Max LS was able to get close in launch conditions and dispersion - had a really bad time with Sim 2, 425 Max and TSi3 were alright. I couldn't reach the ball speeds I was getting with my own setup either, was consistently 2-3mph slower. Small test, quick and dirty at a PGA SS, but enough to give me some peace of mind. No desire to swap out my setup anytime soon.

AD DI 7X at 75g, IMO has a different bend profile compared to Ventus Blue 7X at 77.5g.  Weight is similar and flex is the same, but that's about it.  Ventus Blue not only has an ultra-stiff tip but a stiff mid-section which leads to a more stout feel.  If you really like Ventus, try an "S" flex.  I think Ventus shafts tend to play a bit more stout throughout the colors.

Get in touch with Greg Sydney Golf tech - great guy and will send you the shafts you ant to test with the desired tips for a small fee, will contribute if you buy one.

$175 is a complete rip for a driver only fitting.

Like their prices on items.

G425 Driver with Ventus Velocore Blue is an incredible combination. Never in my life has my driver found the fairway as much as it has with this combo.

Did anyone have a break in period with the Ventus? Compared to my rdx I wasn’t as efficient. I think I just need more time and play with the head weighting.

No break in at all from my experience.  It felt great first swing.   Yes I adjusted weights a bit but it was clear after first swing it was a great fit for me.  End of the day it won't fit everyone
