Fujikura tip/butt flex ratings

Fujikura lists the tip flex and butt flex numbers for each shaft. Would it make sense to use these numbers to choose  flex option?

 

As an example, if a Ventus blue S-flex has similar numbers to another fuji shaft line in X-flex, would you play the Ventus in S and the other in X? Or just stay in your normal flex?

The lower the stiffer the higher the softer.

There is no standard for flex - so the basic flex labels really don't have any useful meaning.  Which also means that you should not have or depend on a 'normal' flex.

 

The fuji tip and but flex numbers are a little more useful - but only in a relative context.   If you try one fuji shaft and find it's not a good fit because it's too soft or too stiff, then yes those numbers can be helpful picking out an alternative fuji shaft to test and try out.   Assuming you can tell if it's the butt or tip stiffness that is contributing to the first shaft not being a good fit.

 

The bend profile charts are actually a little bit more useful - but again only with respect to comparing fuji shafts.  All those specs on the fuji web site can't be used to compare their shafts with other companies shafts.
