C-Flo's WITB for 2021

Kind of always wanted to post one of these so here it goes:

 

Driver: G400 @ 10.5* - Fuji Ventus Velo Black 7X 44.5”

• I gamed this driver back in 2018 but switched to the G410 for 2019. Really didn’t gain much improvement with the G410 so went back to this for 2020. Had a short stint with the newer RIPx shaft in this but switched the Ventus mid Summer. Ventus shaft was a game changer for me. Just a super stable combo that will be tough to beat if I ever decide to throw a contender into the ring (PING G425, I’m looking at you).

Fairway: G400 5-Wood @16.5* - Aldila RIPx 95TX 42”

• I've always heard that when you find a fairway wood that works you should never get rid of it.. So, this might never leave my bag.

Driving Iron / Utility Iron: Mizuno MP20 HMB @ 20*, 1* up - Mitsubishi MMT 125TX 39.5”

• Newer addition but loving it so far. Previously gamed the New Level 4995HB utility which was great. Picked this up to blend with the rest of the irons. Great feel and like the heavier graphite/steel blend shaft. Awesome off the tee and turf. Mainly play it as a driving iron / utility.

Irons: 4-6 Mizuno MP20 MMC @ 2* weak, 1* up, 7-PW - Mizuno MP20 MB, 1* up - Nippon Modus3 Tour 125X +1/2”

• Just fitted into these late Fall and was lucky to get a few rounds in before the courses closed up for the Winter. Early impressions have been great. This is my first time doing a combo set and I’m glad that I did. The MMC are incredibly easy to hit and feel very nice, too. I probably would have been content with a full set of the MMC but I do like the smaller MB profile for the mid/short irons. I’ve been bagging mostly blades for the past couple of years so it’s definitely nice to add a bit of forgiveness with the long irons. I gamed Super Peening Blue a ton over the last 2 years and the Nippon 125 feels and performs pretty close. Going to be a longggg Michigan winter looking at these in the bag.

Wedges: PING Glide 2.0 Stealth 50*, 54*(@55*), & 60* - DG TI S400 Onyx - All play 36’

• Just put these in the bag. I had a short stint with this same head/shaft combo last year/early this year and I don’t know why I ever moved away from them. Super easy to hit, consistent, and feel great. Nice little full stealth build too w/ the shafts and grips.

Putter: Lajosi Sensor Mid-Slant - 34.5" 

• Chocolate Copper finish -  Custom Stamping “C-FLO” on left bumper, weight indication “355G” on right bumper. “X” top line mark w/ single site line. 2* loft, 71* lie. Medium milled face - Black shaft w/ matching Chocolate Copper shaft band ring. Black IOmic I-Classic Midsize grip (Removed white paint fill from grip). I acquired a used Lajosi DD301WB earlier in the year that I really liked but was fighting the flow neck/toe hang. So, I had Kari build this beaut for me over Summer. I wanted to somewhat replicate my older Scotty Mid Slant. I couldn’t be happier with the finished product and Kari was great to work with. Anyone looking to take the plunge into a custom putter, definitely reach out to Kari Lajosi.

Grips: Lamkin UTX Cord Midsize - 2 full wraps, 2-3 lower wraps (1-2 more lower wraps on the wedges).

Ball: PROV1x is the primary. I sometimes sub in whats left of my old Kirkland 4 piece stash (the real deal ones).

Bag: Hoofer Tour

• Gamed a Hoofer Lite for most of the year but randomly stumbled on a Hoofer Tour at my local pro shop.. Couldn’t pass it up seeing that they are sold out everywhere and selling for 1.5-2x the price on the secondary markets.

Shoes: Ecco Biom3 Hybrid & TRUE Linkswear Lux Knits (Linksoul collaboration edition)

 

Pretty stoked about my setup going into 2021. I finished 2020 playing to a 4 and my goal next year is to get down to a 2 or better. Had one of my best years off the tee (especially since switching to the Ventus) and my main focus next year is improving everything from 140 and in, chipping, and putting. The craziest thing is, for the first time a while, I can actually say that I only own 14 golf clubs total (all listed above). I usually have an extra putter or two, wedges, maybe an iron set I’m testing out, etc. Cleared it all out. Just going to focus on getting better with this set 😉

Thanks, man! Lajosi has been around for a while. He makes incredible putters. Based out of Australia. The one that I have was custom ordered that way but you can purchase his stock models as well. Lots of threads on here showing his work, too.

Awesome bag!  Loving those Mizuno's!  Not sure I could go MB's anymore (would be terribly inconsistent with them) but playing the 919 tours I do love a good mizuno bag!

Thanks! I'm pretty happy with them so far. I'm a fairly good ball striker and probably could have went full MBs but just decided adding a little help on the longer irons was the ticket. They blend so well, too. Never hit the 919 Tours but did hit the 900 Tours a few years back and remembered them being nice.

Thanks! Yea, G400 is just so solid. I plan on hitting all of the new drivers coming out but I know it will be tough to beat out. I am playing the driver at D5 and 5 wood at D4 or D5 (can't remember). I should have also added that this was my first year playing a shorter driver (44.5") and I definitely think that made a positive difference.

@golf9596, thank you. I'm liking the bag, a lot. It's a hoofer so the quality is there and the material on the outer is really nice. I carried the Hoofer Lite 50/50 of my rounds last year then picked up a push cart towards the end of the season. The Hoofer Lite was kind of silly on the push cart so I was planning to get a larger bag for it anyways but didn't want a huge non-stand cart bag with a million pockets. I'm stoked that I ran into this at my local pro shop.

I'm not going to lie.. Winter is really setting in and I kind of want to tinker. For some reason, I feel like finding a clean set of PING S55 Irons to rebuild to my specs for fun.. and maybe a nice "backup" mallet putter.. But seriously considering testing a hybrid. Eyes open for a G410 #3.

Nice setup, Quick question how do you find the Lamkin UTX Cord grips looking to upgrade my grips at a budget and see some for 5 euro a pop. What made you choose them? And How do they compare to grips like TVC or Regular TV? I like a corded grip but find the Z-cord too rough and expensive.

I'm not sure what the availability is like outside of the US for them. I actually purchased a used club at some point last year that had one of them on there and really liked it. Just went ahead and bought a bunch from a local shop here during a sale. I've grown to really like a corded grips lately and these are definitely not as "rough" as some of the ones out there. Never played TVC but these are not as soft as TV due to the cord.

Thanks Ya I have played corded grips for a long time and love them but my hands have taken a battering especially form grips like the Z-cord. Might give them a go as it's hard to find cheap corded grips.
