Beat high-launch 3-wood -- but not too hook-biased!!

Looking to get a new 3-wood, but I need it to be of the high launch variety, but I hate overly-hooked faces/set-ups. 
 

Thoughts?

Oldie. But.   The RBZ line.  The green logo version is the absolute top I’ve ever hit.  No way anyone can claim that 3 wood is draw biased.  She’s laying wide open , deep face and launches like a dream.   Cheap experiment, I doubt you’re disappointed.  I can’t beat it with anything new.

Agree this would be a good place to start...Ping g410 5w lofted down to 16.5* or Epic Flash 5w lofted down to 17* have both given me plenty of decent fairway wood distance with high launch thus using one of them to replace my 3w and 5w...plus lofting down opens face slightly reducing hook face set-up.

TS2 or TSi2 16.5. You can set up in the flat or open or flat /open with SureFit. Callaway Mavrik SZ 4 wood is also a good one. If your doing it on a budget you will fall in love with Maltby KE4 Tour TC 4 wood. I have had all and currently have the Maltby in the bag.

Agree, the TS2 or TSi2 16.5. Also the Cobra F9 or Rad Speed and the Ping G410, which I use and love, and which you can probably get for a song.  All of these are great cuz they’re adjustable. I’m a drawer of the ball, so I’m also low in the spin department and hate closed faces. I’d pair the head a with shaft that kicks the ball high, like an Even Flow, Ventus Red, or Speeder Evolution V. So you’ll get more spin and higher launch.

G25 4 wood.  Same length shaft and head size as g25 3 wood but 16.5 degrees instead of 15 degrees.

As I continue down the path of age induced transition to the LPGA bag set-up, I’ve gone to 16.5 deg TS2 at 42.5” in A1 for draw off tee and the occasional immaculate fairway lie and an 18 deg TSi3 at 41.75” in B1 as my normal ‘longest club from turf’ club.

 

My age/swing speed is similar to yours and I have no trouble getting either airborne for their intended purpose.

G410 is very high launching. 

You can get the 5w and loft down to 16.5* in the flat setting. That is a dream for high launch anti hook!

SIM 5W lofted down.  Long and fade biased.  

 

Stay away from anything that’s “Standard” Mavrik......they are draw biased with no way to mitigate.  The SZ Mavrik are more neutral.

I agree, the g400 or 410 5 wood turned down. Or wait for the new 425. For me its hard to beat the Ping fairway woods.

Go 4 wood. Pings get up there in the air and I was surprised how high the new TSi2 launched.

I had a similar topic thread.  I ended upnwith tsi2 with av raw blue, no upcharge.   Launches high off the deck, but still penetrating off the tee.  I always struggled with 3 woods and this is best hands down.

Mizuno st190 TS or st200 TS Versions, very open face angle, can loft up to 16 or 17 degrees and still have open face, very forgiving for any strikes low on face and face depth is deeper than most, so can be used off tee if needed. Other great options are the TEE cbx 16.5* and the Titleist 917f2 16.5 lofted down, surefit fade weight- I just so happen to have one of each option 😂

Mavrik Sub Zero 16.5.  Head looks great at address.  Neutral bias or even a little fade biased with the heavy weight in front.  Having the option to swap the heavy and light weights between front and back gives you some fine tuning ability without changing the face angle or how the club sits at address.

As already mentioned, the mavrik 4 wood may work. It replaced my epic flash 5 wood that I lofted down to 17* and I like the mavrik better. I haven’t been in a situation where I needed to hit the mavrik off the deck yet but it’s better off the tee for me than the epic was, may be head size, might be loft, I can’t say for sure.

i lofted down 1 degree to open up the face and it so easy to hit off the fairway.
