Single length wedges and rough

I’ve always thought of single length wedges as being one of the big drawbacks to the concept. The idea of hitting a 5 iron with a 7 iron shaft sounds just fine, but the idea of hitting a lob wedge with the longer shaft is much less appealing. I was listening to a podcast the other day, however, that made me question this logic.
In the podcast the idea being discussed was that not only can Bryson deal with deep rough better because he swings so hard, but also that the single length wedges helped him, as the longer club length created even more swing speed. This makes sense to me on full shots. As a moderate swing speed guy, I really struggle with deep rough. I have no real interest in single length clubs for myself but am curious if others have thought about single length wedges in this way and if they think there is merit to the idea.
As an aside, does anyone like there wedge length to be any different than standard, compared to their other clubs? I’ve considered going to pw length for all of my wedges...

Not really addressing your question but I feel single length wedges should come with really really long grips.

I play 9-LW all SL at 36.0” ungripped, then go up in 3/8” increments. No way would I play wedges at 7i length -> that is a solution looking to fix a problem that generally doesn’t exist.

Couldn't tell you. Despite playing SL irons, my SW amd LW are VL.

I play my wedges at 36 5/8 un-gripped.

Way more comfortable on full shots and in the rough. For touch shots I simply grip down. If you want longer untapered grips check out the ping wedge grips, they are heavier though so they will affect sw so you will need to adjust during the build
