Honma -- anyone have a constructive, experienced opinion?

The 747 are good.  You may be hard pressed to find one to get fit into as they are out of line.  The TR21 woods are out now and I find them great.  Definitely worth a look/try.  You should be able to go to the website to find your local rep/fitter.  Clubchamp also has them for fitting if that is an option for you.

My local shop has a bunch of 3 woods in stock on clearance for only $129, so I think I’m in luck!

Bought some Honma TR20P forged cavity irons 4-GW a few months ago and they have been really solid with the Nippon 950GH shafts.  However they aren't in the starting lineup and the Callaway Apex 19 beat them out on the course. They are super long but I think that has to do with the jacked up lofts.  Love the feel and a great set.

I had a set of 737 vn irons.  Two of the hosels were drilled out of round.  I didnt feel the quality was there for the price.

Currently in the bag is 747 3 wood, 5 wood and TW W4 wedges. Love all of them. I also have the 747 driver but having issues with it. The lie angle seems too upright (even in the flat setting) and messes with my setup. Spring time planning to reshaft it and give it another go.

737 Strong 3 wood. BEST 3 wood I have ever had in my hands, next to the legendary Callaway DET strong 3 wood I once had.

Honma built this 3 wood right. Head size is perfect, for tight lies or teed up. Nothing fancy. Chrome sole and a nickel like face keeps the club looking like new. Other OEMS who use dark finish like M4 tend to look like crap after 1/2 season use.

The stock Vizard shaft is surprisingly good. I would never have thought it fit my swing but it does. What I love is this combination hits low bullets, Too many of my past 3 woods are high trajectory and always short. This is perfect. I also have a 5 wood in the same 737 model and exact same shaft.

Recently, I reshafted my M4 HL 4 wood with a Vizard 60 to balance all 3 fairway woods. Well done Honma 👍

I tried to consignment sell off my Honma TW 727 MB and never could here in AZ as I doubt those looking knew what a quality forging they are!

These I ordered from Japan on Rakuten B4 it went into some type of discounter abyss.  These are legit forged in the Japan versions - stunning looks and feel.  My only issue is that they're steel shafts.  Due to front left elbow issues, I can't game a steel shaft in irons - even the smooth Modus 125R also from Japan.

So, they sit as my third set I likely won't play often behind the sig sets.  They really are a wonderful blade MB that easily defeats anything put out by other more known OEMs for the forged 1-pc. iron.  I've played Mizunos, Cally Razr MBs, and Wilson Staff true blades - so I can judge this.

The 717 and 727 MBs were both great irons. I marginally preferred the slightly more wingback look of the 717s over the 727s, but both felt wonderful when I tried them.

I agree with many of the posts above that these are truly great irons, for a fair price, and are often over looked.  I have a set of 747v irons and would put them up against anything in its category.  That said I feel like the irons are getting more and more attention, but the rest of their line up is not.  I found a cheap TR20 Driver head on the BST here and have been seriously impressed by its performance.  Again, would put it up against any of the other 2020 drivers.  The hosel design alone is worth a shot for most people, especially if you can get your shaft pure'd!

They have the same lofts as one another so jacked lofts are not the reason.

Honma will always be in my bag or available to play. Outside is Ping cast clubs the faces and finish are the most durable on the market. Shows little to no wear on the faces. Also, very few shafts use a progressive weight system that really helps the carry distance as we grow older. Worth the price for someone who plays 2-3 times a week and wants consistent distance and forgiveness.
just bought my sixth set for myself this time have bought four sets for my golf buddies. We all believe in them.

I have Honma XP-1 irons purchased new at a very modest price a few months ago.  Enjoying them a great deal.  Also have a new set of TM Sim Max2s.  The Honma's are in the bag.  I've given the TM's a chance to knock them out, but it ain't happened.  The XP-1s, with the Vizard shafts, look great and when I hit them solid, feel great.  Very strong distance, forgiving and more accurate (which is not to say I always put a good swing on them).  I've tried a bunch of game improvement irons, have been through a fitting, and these are winners for me and eminently worth a look.

I have a set of tr20v’s 5-pw, tr21x 4i and 2 wedges coming, hopefully by next week.  Did the mobile Honma fitting experience and I walked out of there blown away with looks & feel.  Plus the numbers were freaking spot on!

Playing  717V's that I picked up on a whim just because I liked the muscle cavity, they've stayed in the bag since my first range session with them, love them.  Tried the 737V (I think, maybe 747V ? The chinese ones) and they felt pretty crummy, didn't like the  Modus 120 either so that was a big part of it but  the difference between the two was night and day.
