Best Hitting Net for a Garage?

lakecowboy

Recommended Posts

I have a Mevo+ coming for Xmas, it'll be here in January.  I had my wife snag a net from Golf Galaxy, we got the one attached.  It sets up super easy and quick, but it returns the ball more or less, and it bounces around the garage.  This net would be fantastic in a backyard, but I want something that will stay in the net when I hit it and not ping around the garage.  This is primarily for the garage and occasionally used in the backyard.  Does anyone have any recommendations?  Some people from my club have recommended Rukket's golf nets.  Anyone have any experience w/ trying to find a garage net that will hold the balls in it, or will they have to bounce around a bit?  I'd like something under $400, its a net so the cheapest options that fits my goals is the best option.  I'd like for it to be 7x8, 8x8, 7x10, etc.

This might work for you better. A little higher in budget but reviews look fantastic.

I went with the GALILEO Golf Practice Net - 7x8 feet. I've been pretty happy with this and sets-up and breaks-down easily/quickly. The hanging target sign helps disperse the impact. I would say you need at least 3-4 feet behind the net to allow for the ball to hit the net, get captured and dropped.

I just got a Spornia and it’s excellent quality. The net returns the ball to the front of the net where there’s a “pouch” that collects the ball and stops it from going past the front of the net. I’m using it on grass but seems like the bottom is elevated enough that it would prevent a ball from bouncing off a concrete floor.

I attached a picture of it set up if you’re curious.

I use the Net Return home with impact screen in my garage build.  Very happy with how it's worked out.  Have torn the screen a couple times now over the past year of usage but had it sewn by a local boat fabric repair company to avoid buying a new mat.  Make sure to rotate golf balls frequently.  Initially I was using the same ball for 5-6 rounds at least and warm-ups, so it can get slightly chewed up on the cover which likely caused the ripping in the screen.

The Spornia is a great net for the garage at the price.  I have had one for a couple of years and it’s been great.  I am moving to the Net Return, as I am moving and will have an extra garage bay and want something that will really last (I understand the net return has a pretty good guarantee) and I will likely put an impact screen over it for projection.

Just saw this, so it may be too late for you - but maybe help some others.

I had the Rukket Haack Golf net and it was perfect for my launch monitor.  I've since upgraded to an impact screen and added a projector.

But - the exact same net I had is available on Amazon for under $100.  It absorbs the impact of the ball and gently releases it.

My previous net was one that had a reinforced nylon tarp/target and it was loud.  In fact, on more that one occasion a neighbor knocked on my garage door to ask what all the noise was...

Check this one out - I think you'll be very happy with it.  (I am, in no way, affiliated with this net or the seller).

If you want something quick, easy, and moderately priced, the Spornia net is pretty good.

You can also build something much better for pretty cheap if you have a minimal amount of home improvement skills.

I built an indoor sim using netting from justfornets.com and they make a very high quality net you can order in custom sizes.

I went with net return pro, more expensive, but I have enough height that it fits nicely. Not the fastest club or ball speed, but the net absolutely removes any chance of bounce back. If you go with a launch monitor or sim that has to sit 7-8 feet back, you can move closer to the net with no concerns. Plus, I think the quality is too notch.

Spornia, 3 minutes to set up and the same to take down. Heavy netting, great ball return.

Any thoughts on this one (Rukket Golf Net Pro w/ Tri Turf Mat)?

https://www.rukket.com/collections/golf-hitting-nets-portable-driving-ranges/products/haack-net-pro-tri-turf-mat

The net is reasonably priced at $210 and comes with a mat (or $180 without).  I'm sure I'll want to get a better mat later, but could be a good way to ease into building a golf simulation in my garage.  I need to go in stages or my wife would kill me.  I want to try adding a net, then a mat shows up, then a few months later a device is sitting on the floor (launch monitor), and finally a screen on a tripod.

Looking more, I would probably be more inclined to go with the one for $300 that has side barriers to provide better protection on errant shots.

I just looked at the Net Return because it was mentioned here several times.  Wow, didn't realize a net could cost $800.  Is it really that much better than one like I posted above?  If so, how exactly.

I was wondering the same thing. $300 Rukket free shipping vs close to $1200 Net Return with sides and shipping.

I have this exact Rukket net.  The "free" hitting mat is marginal, but works for me for indoor chipping in to a chipping target.

The net itself has been great so far.  Seems well made, very quick and easy to set up and take down, and very minor rebound once it absorbs the impact.  Assuming it holds up to more use, I'll be thrilled with it for the price.

I bought a Country Club Elite Mat as well(there's a good deal on Costco for a 4x5) and can't say enough good things about it.  This has been a great combo setup(with Mevo+) so far given what a great overall deal it is.
