Counterfeit Tour AD TP 6s? *updated with video destroying the shaft*

Recommended Posts

This TP 6s does not have a serial number and nothing is printed/etched on the black graphite on top of the shaft.

Grip has been changed many times so no stickers has survived.

But is it possible that Tour AD TP that is a relative new shaft doesn’t have a serial number?

Okay, after full investigation of this shaft, do you want to know how I feel about it?   Well... 🤨😬     IMG_3294.MOV

Echo what first reply said in that they are highly counterfeited, but that being said it has all the markings my legit one has. Not all of them have etched serials any more, especially newer models. I went down a rabbit hole of fakes vs real, and came away feeling like I had no clue which was which. Performance may well be your only tell tale to me at least, as fakes are supposed to perform like sh*t. As I said, yours has all the markings my legit one has. Assuming you bought it on eBay... is it a reputable seller?  Some sellers only have legit items and I trust them.

I’ve used multiple Tour AD shafts during the years, but I’m skeptical on this one. I’ve encountered fakes before, but then it has been very obvious.

It was news to me that not all new ones have serials or printed info on the black graphite on the butt. Makes this one even harder.

I’ve bought the shaft from a friend, don’t know where he got it, but would like to know more before I talk to him.

Its hard to show on pictures, but I have two more things I do notice, but I don’t have a real one to compare with.

- The Tour AD logo is not 100% aligned with Graphite text, see pictures below. Not sure it should be totally aligned though.

- At least to my eye, ain’t the yellow text in Tour AD a little bit thin, like not bold enough compared to the original? Especially if you focus on the U.

I’m having trouble telling about that one after looking closely.  I agree the fonts just look off.  The new ones do have model numbers on the butt and stickers but they are often cut off when cut to length.  They have gotten quite sloppy on their graphics.  I think all of mine are crooked unless they do it intentionally now for some reason.

Already looked at that page and there is nothing obvious there you can see  related to TP.

I already sent to them earlier but haven’t got any response, that’s why I’m asking for help here instead.

A playing partner of mine wanted to verify the authenticity of his Tour AD VR he purchased used, he called Graphite Design and ended up talking directly to the CEO who had him check a couple of things to verify it was authentic. His was missing any labels as well. I would see if you can get in touch with someone at Graphite Design.

Pros Choice is super responsive.

If you have a genuine tour ad - compare the ring width and look for the overlapping label area.

I had one I thought was fake for a while because it had no serial - but it turns out I just wiped it off while trying to get off some old tape adhesive / bits with rubbing alcohol.

I just looked at my TP8 which I know is legit, direct order from Cobra, and your pictures look exactly like my TP8.

I think you are OK.

I’ve also reached out to bill by email but never had any response, there is another thread here, some say to look for any kind of overlapping on the laminated graphics. Never did figured anything out except for it’s the best shaft I’ve ever hit and gives great numbers

Unfortunately I can’t measure the weight since it’s now installed with adapter and grip.

But one thing that would help a lot, anyone that has a a TP shaft and can measure with a caliper on the lowest golden ring according to my picture. I’ve included de measurement for both mm and inch. The shaft feels very thick compared to my DI but not sure if this is due to FTT design on TP.

Other concerns:

- Except for the obvious with missing serial and text on the graphite under the grip I think the transition between the color and the non colored graphite looks odd, it’s blended and not a sharp line which I’ve seen on non cut shafts on eBay.

- My DI:s has the shaft band through the logo, but I don’t think TP is supposed to have that? But my shaft does have a seam overlap not exactly on the other side of the logo, but more on “top” of the shaft if you look at the logo. Attached some pictures of the seam, and you can also see it affected the black ink going through the rings. On the first picture showing the seam you can also see the Tour AD logo is just below the seam.

- Unfortunately I have a back injury at the moment so I can’t give it a full swing, but when I wiggle it, it does feel soft.

Picture of my TP6S attached. Graphics definitely line up differently, but who knows if both, only one or neither of them authentic.
If it was a DI I would be worried about being counterfeit, a TP not so much. image.jpg.72cd1e6c38c3b2d499c6f73f53c6e1dd.jpg

Found another concern that might be very obvious. When I look at TP shafts on the Internet  and your shaft it seems to be a quite clear distinction between the “white” top and the glossy silver below Graphite text.

My shaft has a distinction, but my “white” top is definitely a silver color. Hard to show in pictures, but you can see it more obvious in the picture taken inside.
