Atlanta Athletic Club or Ansley

I have narrowed my search to these two clubs and would be interested in thoughts. I realize that they are very different, but I am attracted to both for different reasons. Ansley is attractive because it is close to home (Buckhead) and work (Midtown), and the family would likely use it more. It is also, from what I understand, slightly more diverse although there is not a lot of diversity at any of the high end clubs. I don’t like the fact that the intown course is only 9 holes and the limitations of the intown range. 
 

I love the courses, practice facilities, and history of AAC. If it were closer to home, I probably would have joined years ago. What I don’t have a food feel on is how easy/difficult it may be to get tee times during peek hours and the comfort level of a family of color at the club. 
 

Any thoughts on these clubs would be helpful. I have the info re the financial aspects, so that is not a factor in my analysis at this point.

If you have flexibility in your schedule during the week, AAC is in play. Otherwise, you won’t use it much during the week once (if) we get back to pre-Covid traffic. 
 

it is a pain to get out there from Buckhead relative to getting to the intown Ansley club. 
 

The 9 holes in town are a ton of fun to play. I always enjoyed them. Don’t undersell that. The range is just to warm up, and you can’t hit anything over 200ish so you are right there. 
 

Riverside is about to be torn up next fall for a lot of irrigation and some other minor renovation work. The easier and know a lot of members prefer it to Highlands. I prefer Highlands though. 
 

If you plan on going to spend all day at the club with family, AAC is the better option. 
 

Settindown is a great course, but your family probably isn’t going to spend all day out there unless they play golf. 
 

Really, it comes down to whether or not you want to use the club during the week and how flexible your schedule is. If you are willing to have a 25-plus minute drive (depending on where you live/work) each way, then AAC might be a fit. If you are just looking for a weekend spot, then that would make sense as well. 
 

Two good choices. Both clubs have great supers that have the courses in great shape.

I’d also recommend considering if you will stay in Buckhead for a while vs move more north of the city. 
 

I know several people at Ansley, some a very good golfers. Elite in the state type good and they rave about both courses. I like the intown 9. Esp those middle holes, what a gem. The social aspect is also lively. 
 

AAC is a different vibe and I’d think you could make the decision just based on that and which feels better to you. With your family, you’ll want the time you spend at the club to feel special. 
 

The intown range, even if limited in distance is a nice benefit. Druid Hills just redid their range and I hear it’s awesome. Assuming that club hasn’t made the final cut. 
 

Tee times these days are harder to come by but once you get in and figure out their sign up process, you’ll find some people to play with and they will make it work. They are top notch facilities and bend over backwards for their membership.
