I got through 2020 successfully but changed almost all my clubs after the season was over. For 2021 my bag will be the following

Ping G410 driver
Maltby KE4 TC 5w
Maltby KE4 ST-H 3H, 4H
Maltby KE4 Tour 5H
Maltby KE4 Tour 6-G irons
Maltby Tricept 54,58
Mizuno Bettinardi C06

I think I am out. I did add a 21° HIWAY as I said in updates to this and I no longer play the ST-H hybrids. Everything else is the same and will remain so. Now is

Maltby KE4 TC 5w
Maltby KE4 HyWay 21°
Maltby KE4 Tour 5H
Maltby KE4 Tour 6-G irons

Awesome bag! I was looking to build something similar for my father. He needs to switch to graphite shafts and get a bit of draw bias in his driver.

I just wanted to maybe ask a couple questions if you have time to answer.

1. How forgiving are you finding the KE4 Tour irons?
My dad hates hybrids. So the plan was going to be to put him in KE4 Tour+ irons 5-GW and then add a 3 and 4 in KE4 FDI. All graphite shafts, of course. However he doesn’t get out to practice as much as he did when he was younger so I am trying to maximize forgiveness while maintaining a decent set blend.

2. How much influence does the adjustability have for you on the G410 driver?

About 2/5 of my dad’s drives are a weak blocky fade. But his driver is ancient, non adjustable. I was hoping to fit him into a club with some more draw influences to mitigate that miss.

Either way, big fan of the clubs in your bag. I play a lot of Maltby stuff, including the Hyway.

I'm still gaming the exact same clubs I stated I would.  I have even played the same 2021 Pro V1x  the entire season (this was a monumental challenge for me since I like to try different balls).

As far as how it has impacted my game... my index still is around 5.5.  But if anything my scores have been very consistent all year:  76-81.

But those new 2021 Titleist irons could be tempting me to fail the challenge!!!

You might want to consider the sti2 irons. I find them very forgiving mated with the maltby pro series shafts. Also, wallet friendly. Full disclosure, I'm a 15 capper and getting older by the minute.

I find the KE4’s very forgiving for me as my miss tends to be toeish and/or thin. Play similar to what Ping G’s did for me but feel better. The adjustability I’d good for figuring out what works but I would do it on course during an actual round and not on the range or into simulator

I59 not out yet.  So...other than putter, I "will" have replaced every club but the putter... although it is the worst.club in my bag...so, not sure if I have a problem or some sort of other sick twisted problem in the mental arena...also considering going back to S55 before I get i59...so...

Out for the 3rd or 4th time...😀

Thanks so much for the feedback. I definitely agree on the testing front. I built a couple KE4 Tour+ clubs for him to test on course. He loves what he sees so far. He games a set of Ping G10’s at the moment. So if they are comparable in forgiveness to the G irons, I think that’s a good indicator that the playability of the whole set is well suited. His G10’s are just too heavy over the course of a whole round, and usually ends up getting tired around hole 12.

Again really appreciate the feedback! Good luck with your bag for the rest of the season!

Thanks. That’s an idea I considered. I gamed a set of STi2’s for a short period. I was impressed with their forgiveness and feel, but the finish on them I found to wear off very quickly. I get it. It’s a $22 head so what am I really expecting? But for a few dollars more per head, I’d feel better knowing I am making him a set that will hold up a little better and probably equally as forgiving.

Not sure if you guys had seen Britt from Golfworks talk about a new KE4 release on the horizon. He mentioned it on the Ralph Maltby forums. I believe it is to be named KE4 Max or at least something along those lines. It’s similarly an Ultra Game Improvement iron. I’m assuming it’ll have a slightly wider sole, and possibly some other tweaks. Britt said it will still maintain a form of adjustable weighting. So I may hold off for a bit just to see what that head may offer over the KE4 Tour+

Again, I really appreciate everyone’s help!

I haven't seen the finish wearing off on my sti2s. Anyhoo, good luck with your search which can be almost as enjoyable as the new clubs arriving at ones doorstep.

Time to make a new thread for 2022!

Yes, I slacked going into this year.  I’ll get the 2022 thread going much earlier this time around.

And this is the year for me, dang it!

It's October and maybe, just maybe it's set until December when my irons get here.  🤣

But seriously, I am really happy with my setup right now, it just feels weird to not shop for clubs. Dammit.
