Will we ever get another driver that feels and sounds as good as the original Ping Rapture?

Was cleaning out the basement and found my old Ping Rapture driver. Decided to throw it in my bag just for fun and I quickly remembered why I loved that thing so much. It sounds and feels way better than any driver made since IMO. Is there any chance a manufacturer could make another driver with that feel and sound and combine it with modern forgiveness?

The original Epic i found pretty similar. 

 

The Rapture was unique certainly and not for everyone.  I hit it pretty well but muted didn't even begin to describe it, I used to say it felt like hitting a driver that had a pillow taped to the front of it

I did exactly the same thing about 3 years ago.  Feel and sound is so deep, and so satisfying.  I used it for a handful of rounds then the Ho in me started barking and I quickly realized why i kept it in the extra staff bag at home...it’s not very forgiving at all.  Miss it a bit and it literally feels like poo poo smeared all over your arm, then taking a long, slow inhale thru the nostrils. Uh huh, poo.  
 

These modern drivers are so much more forgiving than drivers of days gone by.  With one exception.  The TM Burner.  Brandt Snedaker’s weapon of choice when his name was all over the leaderboards.

I found the SLDR 430 was very similar to the Rapture in both acoustics and sweet spot (the size of a no. 2 pencil eraser). My SLDR was the JDM version with the matte black face. Both were extremely long and the best ever when I was "on". But when I was off, it was "break out the 3-wood" time.

The standard mavrik head has a hint of this if hit in the absolute middle.   I mean buttoned.  Anything outside that is different.     It’s like a quick “ wooof” sound or something.

Yep. I had a silver crown black faced 430 that I played until she cracked.  Such a long head.  But yes. Sweet spot the size of a oblong dime.

This post made me think of the titleist 910 driver I use to play, and still have. What a great feeling driver!

Loved that driver. Had a 10.5 with Pershing shaft. Might have been the best sounding modern driver I have played.

BTW i played my Rapture V1 with a Grafalloy Blue 63x. 

 

Talk about feeling nothing. I had to make a swing, than look up to see if i made contact with the ball. I'd see the ball flying off and be like "oh cool, i guess i made contact"

Bought mine late march,its my 3rd.The stock tfc909r works for me.I regripped,cut too 45,and have tm or mizuno covers,so thats why its modern enough for me.

SIM is the best sounding driver in years, IMO.

Had the set way back when. Driver got traded in, 3 wood sold to a buddy, 5 wood is still in my son's bag. Stock stiff shaft, he just launches it high and far with a baby draw.

Sometime in the spring, I will be giving away two OG Rapture heads.  Along with some other stuff out of the barn.

Nothing beats the PXG PROTO for sound and feel.

Ping recently is in the no graphite camp as the glue weight is to high.  But looking at the rapture they were using twice as much with all the webbing in the top.   
did work for me and I’m a Spider-Man fan from way back, double win.

I had mine out this summer as well, Oban revenge 65.06 in it

 

nothing feels better, flight is awesome

 

Toe misses are awful though and ball speed not near my G400 max when I hit both at Ping hq
