Fred Funk talking on golf channel today about Raindance in Windsor opening next July. Big fescue fairways! 180 yard putting green that shares the 9th green lit up at night with music playing. Negatives - 8400 yards tips, cart ball, Fred hates wild greens and shaved edges so the greens are probably going to be fairly tame but fast. https://www.golfchannel.com/video/fred-funk-it-was-bucket-list-build-golf-course

 

Carts on fescue fairways in our hot summers is going to be tough for them though. I bet they go cart paths only the first year.

Had a nice day playing free golf at the Broadmoor today. Always like it when we get lucky and our winter stay coincides with warm weather. I'm amazed more people don't take advantage of that considering how many people are at the resort since you get to play 10 holes for free if you walk or $17 to ride ($26 if you ride 2 loops) and it's most of the Ross holes on the West which are much better than the RTJ sr holes anyway. Went around twice and never had to wait.

My kid had a gymnastics tournament there on Super Bowl weekends. Always snow on the ground. 😞

 

You can always speculate and reserve a room under the Pikes Peak Cup rate (super cheap). (Sold out for 2022.)

Did they have all 18 holes open?  I've never played late there this late in the season, but have been told your hotel stay includes free golf during the winter - but only 10 holes of golf.

Which course?

I was there at the end of November, certainly nice enough to play - but was staying there for our anniversary, thought better of it.  lol

Played Ute Creek today. Fairways are really running due to the lack of moisture.

I was out there too. We teed off at 10:10. Left after 9 though. Had too much to do and the wind was pretty brutal. They are definitely in "winter" conditions out there on the greens. Pretty beat up IMO.

What a bizarre and horrific scene to see in late December in Colorado, or any time for that matter. Hope everyone is alright.

Man coal creek has had a few rough years.  The flood and now fire.  Sure it will comeback but the trees gone will be a bummer.
