To Aldila Synergy Prototype experts. Which one is it?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I know that some of you here are experts on this shaft and I've been trying to follow the different posts here but I can't find the information I'm looking for.
I have contacted the seller but they don't know which one it is exactly.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOUR-ISSUE-ALDILA-SYNERGY-PROTOTYPE-80-TOUR-EXTRA-STIFF-FLEX-SHAFT/274312739526?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

How can I differentiate a green prototype Synergy from a blue or a black one for example?
Do you have the exact specs of this shaft? Perhaps they are the same as the retail shaft.
I am especially interested in the butt diameter (don't ask me why 🤣).

Happy New Year!!

Thanks

FrenchFries

They are two very different profiles. If blue in 90tx worked, look for a tour blue/atx blue/rogue black in 80tx. Not to say this shaft won’t work, but it isn’t similar to what you said worked before.

I'd send aldila CS an email to ask the question.  Typically they are pretty good about helping with those types of questions.

I did, but for the moment I have not received any answer.
because of the holiday season I guess.
but if some here have any advice or opinions on this shaft, it would be even better 😉

great, thanks
it's already a first information

now the last info I am looking for is the butt diameter

No idea on that one. Prototypes usually don’t have specs released. Only way to figure out is to measure. Aldila synergy green is based off the tour green profile and eventually became the atx green. My guess would be to look at the atx green as a starting point and the synergy blue as a low end (it is a softer butt shaft) reference point.

Good idea, thank you.

BTW, do you think it can be a good shaft for a 3 wood?

Hard to say. If the weight/profile allow you to deliver the center of the club face to the ball consistently, then yes it will. Consensus is that it’s a low/low shaft, but nobody can tell you how it will perform once it’s in your hands responding to your swing.

I believe in finding a shaft, length, and club MOI that allows you to deliver the center face to the ball consistently, then using club loft to fine tune launch/spin. Shafts can make a difference if you’re a high level player or a robot, but for people who aren’t playing professionally, shaft designations should be taken with a grain of salt and people should try a bunch of different things until they find what gives the most center contact.

Yes, I'm asking the question because I had a Tour Blue 90TX that was perfect and for some reason I wanted to switch to a slightly lighter shaft, a Diamana BlueBoard 80X but I find that shaft to be a bit too lively. The Tour Green profile in a 80gr weight might be a good compromise then.

Well, I believe that I started again to make endless tests 😀

I guess that’s part of the fun. I ended up settling on the new rogue black in driver, fairway, and hybrids. Something about that shaft just works for me and it performs just as low/low as anything else out there because I can center strike it more often than not.

I used to play an old Tour Rogue Black 110 70TX in a driver and it was a beast. Once again, I don't know why I sold it 😞

Sounds like you favor Aldila’s version of the blue profile in some form or another. I wouldn’t even be considering the synergy green if I were you, but I hope it works out. The newest rogue black could be a good option for you.

I agree with what @jgard320 is suggesting 100%. Once you have identified a style of shaft that you really enjoy, especially when it is across different models, you'll only likely frustrate yourself attempting recreate what you liked about it in a different model. The current Roge Black is readily available, and the previous generation Rogue Black 110 still pops up on ebay from time to time. The Aldila Tour Blue can be found cheaply in the 75g and 85g weight classes as well.

I have one of these. As the post near the top suggests, I believe it is the 'green' version but that's just from detective work on here and not 100% certain. The butt is very big but tapers very quickly, I believe around 0.635" from memory so can be abit of a pain to get grips on but by the time it gets to the end of the grip it's thinner than an X100 (my go to comparison when fitting my grips), which meant I had to play with tape layers to get the feel right. I'd say it was low-mid launch and just a warning the 80TX in comparison to the ATX 95TX feels heavier and launches lower despite the lower overall weight in my opinion. The ATX blue (older version, not sure about the newer version that these allegedly went onto become) are slightly counterbalanced hence the lighter feel and have a livelier tip section (depending on tipping) to me anyway.

Hope that helps, it's a good shaft.

Well, every once in a while we come across a good surprise. we can say it is silly to miss something that can work "a little" better. this is the case of this LAGP Ozik Red that I'm using at the moment. I didn't believe in it too much and yet it's perfect.

thank you for this information.
this is exactly what i was looking for because the Ozik Red is .630", which once gripped is fine for me. but i'm tired of tweaking the shaft of my 3 wood to get the same size and sensations. i had to add 6 layers (!!!) of tape to get similar sensations and i find it's closer to sunday DIY at this level...🙄

Put a Red Tie in your 3 wood. I have the 70 in my 3 wood and love it.

To me it's perfect.
