What 3 wood is an absolute fairway finder off the tee?

Looking for an easy to hit, straight 3 wood that will be used mostly off the tee. I have a 913 currently that I like OK, but don’t love the shaft. I want confidence on par 5s or short par 4s to find the fairway. What should I look at?   Distance is certainly nice, but secondary. Ideally it wouldn’t be too difficult to hit off the deck either.

Actually,re shaft. The Tensei blue in ts are Superb,a genuine step ahead of prior Diamana shafts.Just sold and delivering my 3wd ts3 head today, but keeping Tensei shaft. And trying too buy another too...i felt  917 head was a big improvement also.

With 3 woods (and hybrids), if you aren’t after the longest, shiniest and newest you can often pull one out of the bargain bin at a golf mart or somewhere similar, hit it and find one that feels good to you. I picked up a super-cheap cobra f7 that I love, and a friend (plus handicapper) found an old rocketballz for about $40 that went straight in the bag and hasn’t been challenged.

Not sure any club can be guaranteed an absolute anything much less a fairway finder, but have found the Callaway Steelhead's and Ping G and Ping g410's to be about as forgiving with consistent distance as they come. And another vote for the Tensei CK Blue shaft.

I think I’ll look at Ping and/or something adjustable. It’s just not as easy to demo right now.

I just got a TS2 fairway and put it up against my 910f. I thought over the Christmas break I would put in some serious range time and compare the 2 and throw in my old 906f2 as well.

I may post about this later but I honestly think I like the 906 the best. Hard to tell the diffetance in distance (but they are all similar).

Not crazy about the sound of the TS2. Lacks that nice traditional 3wd sound in my opinion .

906 is workable both ways for me and also like the smaller head.

Maybe I'm crazy.

Only two things will keep a golfer from hitting their FWs well:

1. They don't fit them properly.

2. They don't know how to hit them properly.

Tons of threads covering this and it just keeps coming up. Stick with 70-90g shafts and lengths that suit your ability. Hit the ball with a downward AoA of around 1-2* and you're good to go.

These dickish non-responses are the worst part of GolfWrx. It's a legitimate question from the OP and a perennial question among golfers, including tour pros. But maybe Phil should stop playing around with that Original One and Bryson should ditch his 2 wood. They just need lessons. And Stenson should junk that silly 3 wood. Just keep practicing, Henrik, and one day you'll hit driver as good as @bogeypro

It’s not ideal. My question really had to do with easy to hit, high MOI 3 woods with a good stock shaft. I’m thinking Ping is always solid and I do like adjustability. Maybe I go a year or two older and pick up a cheap one to try out.

I hear you...and I should have added that l didn't demo these either, but they worked out for me. Other clubs l ordered not so much, and i returned them. Good luck.

Ping is great for this. It's a high MOI FW and versatile, although some don't like the shallow-ish face when using it off the tee.

Another good option is the Cobra Big Tour. The standard Cobra fairways are great as well -- very stable and easy to hit, reasonably priced.

If you want to go even bigger and higher MOI, I love the Original One. Doesn't give you much off the fairway, but it's a phenomenal tee club. (But it's very low spinning, if that's a drawback).

Decide whether you want a higher spinning club that tends to draw or lower spin neutral club.  Which works for you.  Many of the low spin heads are better off the tee and tend to hook less.

also do you want a deeper face for tee shots?

Ping LST, Callaway sub zero would be good off the tee, but maybe not as good off the deck unless you have high swing speed.

Speaking of a “dickish non-response”, thanks for the example!  You provided absolutely zero advice/ideas for the OP.

I haven't tried the G400 or G410 as I've spent enough on new irons this year and don't need the temptation.  But I love my Ping G 3W.  Straight and long once I learned to not sway on my backswing and to transfer my weight properly on the downswing.
