If you’re like everyone else on this forum, buy the 3. Because all of us all have the clubs we “want” but get the clubs we think is a good deal, then sell those clubs and eventually buy the clubs we w

This is GolfWrx in a nutshell.  Couldn't agree more and NOTHING wrong with this.  If geeking on equipment is ones thing (like mine and lots of others) then have at it.     Hit em straight!

I have played all 3 Gen's of the irons and I would say MOST DEFINITELY YES. If you were going from Gen 2 to Gen 3 then it would mainly be just a "feel" improvement and what you like in appearance.

About to pull the trigger on the Gen 2's, especially with the new sale price.. Gen 3's definitely aren't worth 2x the price of Gen 2's, right? What would you say the biggest differences are between Gen 2 and 3? Mostly just feel?

For me and my swing:

Gen 1 -- Soft but too much spin, no matter how many shaft changes we did.   Lost about 1/2 club distance compared with the Pings they replaced.  (Played them about 1 1/2 years)

Gen2 -- Crisp (not harsh), but not enough spin no matter how many shaft changes we did. (Got the 1/2 club distance back, but just never liked the crisper feel)  (Played them about 1 year)

Gen3 -  Perfect for me -- softest of all 3 (which I prefer) and spin rates were much more consistent;   gained 1/2 club distance over Gen2 and easily the best ball control off all 3 for me.  Probably my favorite irons of the past 15 years and I used to switch irons 4-6 times a year.

Well for me it was looks first, the milled look and the back design really look sharp. And then feel for sure with a little bit more forgiveness. To be honest there was no performance gain or loss, still hit all irons the exact same distance.

With that being said the XP's are about 5 yards longer than my "P" series. I believe the lofts are a little stronger on them.

I have Gen2 P and Gen3 T with same shafts. The T feel great, have stopping power I need and are longer than the P by 3 - 5 yds. I did also hit the Gen3 P and they were the longest. However, for my game I went with the T due to the stopping power. Go with Gen3 in whichever version you choose, the little extra $ will be worth in the long run.

I thought distance was relative to club selection, so I feel the Gen 2 are just fine. Had a great round with them yesterday, and had plenty of stopping power for me. Plus they are very accurate as well. Found out the PW is awesome around the greens!!! Stuck it to 3 feet from 50 yards. Did I miss the putt..........

You hit a PW from 50 yards?! Do tell...

I used to love practicing that shot. It’s the first shot I learned the bounce and stop. Ball positioned on the back toe, open club face, pick the club straight up with the arms, and drop it straight down on the ball. But that was back when pitching wedges were 48 degrees.

0311T gen 3 PW is 46 degrees & spins like crazy. You can definitely hit this shot with it.

I just got my combo set (P 5-6, T 7-PW) & went straight to Kiawah Island. Six rounds in four days was quite a way to break them in. Shot 476 total, which was damn good for me since me & my buddies drank heavily throughout.

Struggled a bit with strikes due to adjusting to different shafts but they're surprisingly forgiving. Frustrated at all the bad swings but not one shot got me in any real trouble. You get the feel feedback that you didn't get it good but the results aren't bad. Can't ask for more than that.

The T plays like a forgiving blade. P similar to Mizuno HMB, which I got rid of for these because I hated the chubby short irons. These will stick around for a while.

I didn’t care for the Gen 1’s, had my Gen 2 black P’s for over 2 years and just switched to the Gen 3 P’s as I didn’t care for the Gen 4. The Gen 3 feel the best to me and aren’t as thick/clunky as the prior Gen’s and are 3-5 yards longer and just as forgiving imo.

I've had the Gen 1s for years and bought a set of Gen 3s.

For some reason I hit the Gen 1s better and ended up flipping the Gen 3s.

I've been fitted since and the Gen 3s were recommended, but not enough to make me want to switch again.

I have (still play) a set of the “pre” gen 1’s. This was before they released a P and T version.  These are significantly better feeling than the gen 2’s. I bought the gen 3’s last year with the same shafts as my original pxg’s. Same shaft / length / lie / grip / etc - triple checked. The new gen 3’s were almost a full club shorter.  Kept trying for 2 or 3 weeks and eventually sold them. Went back to the original ones.

I am a club hoe at heart. It’s killing me that I can’t find a set that is close or better than the original pxg’s.
