AK in 2021

Is this just an innocent caption or is it actually a (not so) cryptic message from Mr. Schriber? A whole lotta nothing?

I hope it means something personally, though I know it's a long shot. But man AK looks like he's aged a hundred years...

It means nothing. Again. Just a cheap space filler from a recent TMZesque golf.com article trying to be relevant. Same as the last few articles on another Anthony Kim sighting over the last few years.

https://golf.com/news/anthony-kim-sighting-2021-wish-list/

Wow somebody saw AK in public. Move on people.

I know the pot gets stirred every 6 months or so and it's an even bigger longshot than Tiger's comeback but why would a respectable teacher like Adam post such an obviously cryptic caption like that. He could've said something like...happy new year! Or good catching up with old friends. Anything else really...

Kim looks like he is ready for the Champions Tour.

As much as it pains me, I agree with you on this one.  I played a round with AK many moons ago at Riviera CC.  Supremely talented and dedicated when he wants it bad enough.  His parents and mine are friends from back in the day.  He's a good kid, but time and age have not been kind to him.

Why do they look like they are about to announce some kind of reunion hip hop album? AK, Adam and the Golf Boys featuring on a couple of tracks.

Interesting to see a 50 year old trying to dress like an 18 year old.......

Morten Harket's still pulling it off in his 60s.

When I first saw the photo I honestly thought, for a second or two, that it was Eric Roberts having a mid-life crisis.

I still don't get the fascination with Kim(it seems I say this every couple of years). He's not an all time great(and I don't recall him on the road to being one) and hasn't played on tour anywhere, at any level for 8yrs. 8yrs. Since I have posted in a thread about him again I guess I Have my part in building his mythology.

Thanks for the link. I needed a little help myself.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

AK was before my time but I read up on him.

Sounds cool - but I dont get the dudes who basically fantasize about time 24/7.

Why would you want him to or even care about his return now? He wouldnt even make a dent in the current talent pool.

He's been laughing his a** off living like a millionaire for almost a decade.

Somewhat like a Bo Jackson of golf...didn't have a long career, but did some explosive things. Mad 11 birdies in the masters once, beat Sergio first match out in the '08 Ryder Cup. Basically just free wheeled it and could be an annual winner on tour.

First of all, AK was “lit” or “fire” 🔥, or whatever you youngers say these days. You’d have loved to watch him. Brief spot in the sun, be he could play.

Second, look at these belt buckles

Lol. So that’s his coach ?  Reminds me of happy Gilmore’s caddie.  His pocket is hanging out a hole in his pants.  Wth ?  Reminds me of a guy I knew in the 80s. Has cutoff jeans. Cut so short the pockets hung down below the cut line.  He always had keys or a pocket knife swinging below his short line.  It’s madness !

He took that $10m invested it and is enjoying his life.  Golf on tour was a job to him (it is to many) and he got to retire early thanks to a smart investment with insurance.  Good for him

Sad to say, but $10,000,000 is a drop in the bucket of his potential earnings. He quit on himself. About a year ago, he was doing insurance work, like health insurance on company conference calls. I hope he invested wisely, but him working an insurance job that soon after the end of his career screams he needs the cash.

Not sure why I'm pulling for him actually. Good question. Might be partly as a fellow Korean, I want to see him do well. Partly because he was a character, fun to watch and had some personality that came through the camera.

As much as I'd love to see an AK comeback I think the likelihood of that happening is close to impossible. No one, regardless of how talented they are, can take 7-8+ years off from the game and then come back at an elite level. On top of that he doesn't exactly look like he's in peak physical condition. Granted none of us really do after what I assume is a flurry of adult beverages on NYE.

I think at this point the AK sightings are more of a running joke and something to laugh about as opposed to it actually meaning something.

Half the golf world disliked him for the same reasons. He was interesting to watch but I still don't understand the fascination with him almost 10yrs on.
