Cobra Forged TEC VS Cobra Forged Tour

Has anyone played both of the Cobra Forged TEC and Cobra Forged Tour irons in either one length or variable length?  I cannot seem to find any reviews comparing the two models.  I have hit both of them, but unfortunately not side by side.  I would be purchasing the one length version as well.  It sounds like each set is taking a different route in accomplishing gapping throughout the sets so would love to hear any feedback on that end as well if you happen to be playing the one length.

I currently game the EQ irons after having played the Sterlings for 3 years.  I am not happy with my shaft selection so I am either in the process of changing out the shafts, or due to cost, also looking at trying out the Cobra irons.  I have hit the 8 irons in each of the sets and love the feel of the Forged Tour head with KBS shaft, but wouldn't want to rule out the latest model from Cobra.

Why not try a different shaft in the EQs? That’s like what, 15%?, of the price of a set of cobra’s...

The lies and lofts of the cobras are so messed up, I’d prefer the EQs all the way. However I’m thinking about EQs and Cobra Utilities (the driving iron).

I purchased some shafts for the EQ's, they have just been delayed in delivery due to the Holidays but shoud have them by next week.  I am actually regretting a little bit that I got rid of my Sterling irons as I was playing really great golf with them (Xcalibur shafts), but just felt like upgrading to the new EQ's.  Unfortunately, I put a shaft in it that I had never hit before and they just aren't right.  I have shot some decent scores, but they just feel harsh, even on good strikes.

I'll have $450 in the shafts and assembly, so purchasing a used set of cobra's or a new but older generation model off Ebay, really won't be that much more $$.  I may just purchase a set off of eBay to try to them before reshafting my EQ's.

TravAz, thanks, but those I am looking for a comparison of the Forged TEC (new model) and the Forged Tour which has been out for a few years, not the new King Tour as it does not come in one length.

I'm going into my third year playing the Cobra Forged Tours and have only demoed the Forged Tecs when they came out, but they are certainly different products and have a different feel.

The Forged Tecs are really more of a "players distance" iron IMO while the Forged Tours fit a more traditional "players iron" spot.  I thought the Tecs looked great at address, but feel-wise I didn't think they felt as good as the Forged Tours.  The Tecs gave me a bit more distance, but with stronger lofts that was to be expected.  I didn't test the Tecs long enough to really evaluate forgiveness/dispersion, but they are intended to be and would have to imagine they are a bit more forgiving on mishits than the Forged Tours, simply due to the head construction.

I'll be upfront and admit I have never hit the Forged Tec irons, however I do own a set of the one length King Forged irons with KBS Tour shafts in them that I picked up for a good deal to calm my curiousity in OL irons. They are some of the best feeling iron head and shaft combos I have tried, truly a soft feel and I don't experience much distance loss at all in the long irons. In fact, with the standard lofts, I find them to be very consistent with my current irons. Which brings me to this, I have never hit the Forged Tec, but I do currently play P790s. Now I've also read the Forged Tec spin a little more and feel a little nicer than the P790s, but in comparing the 790s and King forged there's no doubt the King Forged are a nicer feeling iron, especially if interested in going down the OL path. I also find them to be plenty forgiving.

I have hit both in VL and thought both were solid options. Given the loft differences you'd probably hit the Forged Tecs longer, but I didn't find them to be much more forgiving than the Forged Tours. Coupled with less offset, slimmer topline, and better feel, the Forged Tours are a no-brainer for me, but if you could use the extra length above all else, the Forged Tecs are still a good option, and felt better to me than other hollow options at the time like the i500 and 2017 p790.
