Has the Golf Channel and PGA Tour radio become unwatchable/unlistenable? (NO POLITICS)

The only reason I haven't cut cable is live sports and sports commentary channels. I find myself watching less and less sports and have no interest in sports politics. I hate politics, both sides, not interested. I am in my early 40's with quite a bit of disposable income and these channels are driving people like me away. 

 

I would love to watch sports and it only be about sports, crazy concept. Now I watch YouTube golf only channels, I follow around 10 or so and have videos to watch daily. I really don't need cable or satellite anymore.

One of the reasons I haven't killed cable yet is because of internet access.  Seems like the bundle deals are the way to go.

You nailed it.  I've got about 60 YouTube channels in my favorites across all of my hobbies and interests and every single day I have more new content at my fingertips every day than I can keep up with.  Same goes for radio with podcasts.

ESPN has been cutting staff in CT like crazy.  They are way too p*liti*al.   GC is following in their footsteps.

 

NBC is owned by Comcast and they raise prices every year.   My only choice for Internet is AT&T, Comcast or maybe satellite which may be owned by AT&T anyway.   There is no competition.  A small Internet provider is in town but it is by radio waves or microwave and only covers certain areas.   Endless monopolies/oligopolies/kleptocracies.

We went with YTTV, and are pretty happy for the most part. They dropped Fox Sports Southeast about a month after we signed up, so I can't watch the Carolina Hurricanes. Hockey isn't really the same with no crowd, though. I guess I'll check out different options after the pandemic. I might have to consider changing my name tp Ex-Caniac6.

Maybe the golf channel just sucks because their coverage of golf consists of 3 shots, commercials, 3 shots, commercials, 2 shots, interview with some corporate guy for 5 minutes. Then more commercials. Maybe it has been this way for a long time and some of us have been pounding the table about it for years and years. Maybe some of us hate US golf coverage compared to Euro golf coverage for this very reason. Maybe it has nothing to do with politics and everthing to do with the fact that they suck at covering golf and only want to show commercials.

 

And maybe literally nothing else on TGC has ever been watchable except for when they show movies or Feherty interviews. Maybe a channel solely dedicated to golf wasn't the best idea to begin with due to the fact that the scope for original programming is so narrow.

I wonder when the TV contracts that the PGA tour has expire.  It seems that the tour creates its own streaming channel for $5/ mo and bypass the networks.

 

If that happens, GC has nothing to offer.  
 

Not sure who owns PGA tour radio, but not sure how it continues as is.

 

Golf magazines, Golf Channel, PGA tour radio all seem to be dead men walking.

I picked up a new truck, and it comes with three free months of Sirius/XM. I have been listening to PGA Tour radio, and I agree with some that some of the content is less than stellar.
