New PXG 0211 Line

Recommended Posts

Well i am glad I got the prior gen 0211s. The loft of the 4i is 3* strong and the PW is 4* strong from the prior gen.

Although, this would make the top of the bag easier and you only would have a 4* gap between 4I and 3w

Not sure why they altered the lofts so much between iterations of the 0211 irons.

That being said there is only 2.5 degrees between original & new 4 iron & just 3 degrees between original & new PW.

Not a fan of having 6 degree differences between each wedge. Seems to me it might create gap issues.

Like the look of the driver, fairways & hybrids though.

It's actually the opposite.
These clubs are for higher HCs.

Most higher HCers don't compress the ball. With higher lofted clubs you get the ball rolling up the face so 5-6* separation may actually give you the needed 12-13 yards between clubs.

That's my theory, anyway... lol.

I don't think anyone below 10 HC would play these. I also think they are designed for slower swing speed golfers.

PXG has made these to compete with Ping's G range, I believe.

Im a 0 and get as low as a +2 if I practice (I dont, only play about once a week now) and I play the original 0211 irons.  They are fantastic and I will put them up against anything out there.  I swing 100-105 on average.  I was dead set on getting these when I heard they were coming out but with the specs Im trying to figure out how to make it work.  For sure would need to take off a 1/2 inch and then debating weakening them but really dont want to mess with the bounces so yeah.  Take all that fwiw lol.  I do wish the specs were more like the 2019 0211 though!

These irons are PXGs answer to clubs like the Rogue X, Maverik and whatever TM Sim iron has the stronger lofts.

They have nothing in common with the older 0211s.

The new 0211 irons are the same lofts and lengths as the GEN 3 0311XP irons.

They also use the dual core material but lack the impact reactor design and milled back w/screws.

All for $115 compared to the XP @ $249.

idk if this can realistically be any better than the current gen2 0317x. the gen2 is a heck of a hybrid, and the 0211 seems like it has given up some MOI that the gen2 could have with the weights back. The single weight being forward kind of scares me, as I usually don't get along well with forward cg's.

I agree...unless these are high launching,  the weight forward would make it low spinning and if you had to get a heavier weight that  would make it worse..they actually look good though

I have been looking at these and you know what came to me? They are selling a box set. They are not calling it that, and you can buy them individually. But this is PXGs play at a box set.. Pretty smart in some ways.

No 7.5 on the website...bummer

I am hearing that the 7.5 will not be released to the public, that they were on the conforming list for Tour Use.  That being said, you may be able to purchase one through Player Support, they are generally very helpful.  They may just not be available in large quantities .. they may almost become available at some point.

Bob does not look very well in the new 0211 introductory video.   Not sure if he unfortunately has Parkinsons or some type of palsy, but he doesn't look healthy and the significant tremors are noticeable.  Sure hope that's not the case.  He's a good man.   But with all the price cuts and continued attempts to round out the product line to a more mainstream audience, it kinda makes one wonder if he's positioning the company to sell at some point in the future.   Not immediately, but at some point down the line.

The new lineup looks pretty nice.     Seems to be targeted to a game improvement audience, so it should do pretty well as long as they don't nickel and dime you to death with "customization."

I did notice that as well. I hope he's doing okay. He's indeed a good man and I love what he's done with PXG.

How so?

They are fully customizable and fitted with numerous shaft options, grip options and built to your spec (lie, length, SW, etc). I don't see how this is a box set in any way shape or form.

I'm the same, I don't touch FW metals or hybrids with forward weights. I don't want these low spin because I'm hitting them into greens.

I think these are really geared for higher cappers looking to advance the ball as far as possible up the fairway and closer to the green.

I am betting these are high launching....i ordered a couple of the fairway woods..the build sheet says 10 gram front weight...so much less then the gen 2 in moveable weight. Means a bigger, higher launching,  fairway wood and a little forwad weight to make sure it doesnt go to high i as m guessing. I will find out soon i hope.

It is for them a very affordable option that they are pushing to have you get a full bag of. A box set does not have to be low quality.

The main feature of a box set is an affordable way to get everything you need to play the game. This is not exactly that but I see it in a similar space. That's all.

The 'Average Golfer' mentioned the new 0211 iron is shorter from heel to toe than the old model .  That is kind of a bummer to hear.  I was hoping these would be a larger profile to fit more of the golfer bell curve.  I thought the og 0211 was closer in size to an i210 which for me is getting on the smaller side of what I prefer to play.
